14270978 No.14270978 [Reply] [Original]

I’ve seen a few threads recently talking about this place called, “Del Taco”, mostly comparing it to Taco Bell. I’m not really familiar with this “Del Taco”, but I looked it up and it turns out there’s a location within my driving radius, so I figured I’d do everyone a favor and try both franchises. I got Taco Bell tonight, but I’ll try “Del Taco” some time in the next couple of days and give you guys a rundown. Since I’m not really familiar with “Del Taco” I’d appreciate any recommendations. I tend more towards a variety of cheaper items rather than combos, and would prefer to keep it under $10, so hit me with your recommendations.

The thing about Del Taco is that they are good occasionally. They are in the confused menu state at the moment, and seem to think for some fucking reason that they should sell burgers.

Their beef tacos are atrocious, but their beef burritos are good, as are their chicken rollers.

Tuesdays and Thursdays net you 3 tacos for no money at all. They will happily make you dozens of tacos if you wish.

Haha, they always ask if you want hot sauce when you pull up to the window and I always say, "uhh, yeah, gimme some fire", but this girl clearly forgot what I asked for and just gave me a little of everything.
>>14270988
The fries were already on my list since they seemed to come up a lot when people talked about Del Taco. The other two things aren’t really something I’d usually buy, but maybe I should since they’re what I consider bottom of the barrel TB menu items. I’ll keep them on the potential order list.
>>14271081
I'll pick up a beef burrito, since I'd like to compare things that are similar to the things I usually get from Taco Bell. Are "chicken rollers" like taquitos? Because the chicken taquitos at Taco Bell are easily my least favorite item. Unfortunately I wont be there on Tuesday or Thursday, but if it's good I'll probably go back (it's also near the good liquor store, so I'll have to drop some money on a couple new bottles of whiskey).
>>14271092
I'll definitely try one. I love fish tacos and that's very different from anything Taco Bell offers.

The tostada was pretty nice tonight. I don't really understand how the cheese was melted over the lettuce and tomatoes, but I'm assuming it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. I know how a lot of things are done in restaurants, but I've never worked fast food, so these stupid little things are a complete mystery to me, like how making McDonald's fries at home is a bigger project than a Baked Alaska, and home brewing a Budweiser clone practically takes professional level know-how and equipment. I've occasionally thought of one day opening my own Taco Bell franchise location. It's not exactly the dream I had in kindergarten, but having looked it up it's one of the most expensive franchises to open and takes something like a million in capital, which is ironically out of my near future prospects.
>>14271032
As much as I love fre shovac ado I have kind of a warped view of it at this point. I just feel like it’s way overpriced literally everywhere, and because I also work with it and find it annoying and messy I’m kind of sick of it. Also, everybody expects to get perfect fresh avocados all year round, which is unrealistic, so we have to charge more to give people their slice of fresh avocado and as they pay more, they expect it to be perfect every time and it’s just a vicious circle. If you’re eating out every day and ordering avocado on everything maybe just buy a house on an acre of land and plant a couple avocado trees. It’s literally just another fruit, and you can grow it yourself.

You can recreate my order, buy the same alcohol, and even find my bed sheets pretty easily, but I’d be impressed if someone went out and bought the same isopod and Godzilla, and then studied my cadence. I see those impostor threads, and even when they rename the files with the current date it’s obviously not me based on how they type. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I've been thinking a bit about why some people seem to dislike my threads, and I've started to believe that it has something to do with my verbosity. I had a girlfriend once who used to tell me I should get a radio show in the middle of the night because my voice was great at putting her to sleep.

And here's the order. The prices are off because I took a screenshot before choosing the location, so it was set to random place that charged extra for everything. The only thing I paid extra for was the avocado ranch sauce on the fritos burrito, which was an extra 25 cents.

Anon probably thought it wasn't really me because of the lack of a dollar nachos (add onions), which has admittedly become something of a shtick as of late. But I do like to mix things up and keep it interesting. Nonetheless, I still went with my old standby and paired my Taco Bell with a decent, mid-shelf Islay.

I occasionally check the list of the top 200 most reposted images in the hope that my caricature has made the wall of shame, but alas… you need to step up your game, anon. The webm bot threads have kind of fucked up the ranking, but at least we can all take solace in the fact that “a pizza” is still number one.

Here’s the chalupa, or as I call it (in my head, to myself), the shitty taco with a giant splooge of sour cream and way too many tomatoes. I honestly don’t understand why they call it the, “chalupa cravings box”; they should call it the $5 5 Layer box, because the 5 layer is obviously the main attraction.

>> No.14274824

Del Taco is insanely better than Taco Bell, in that it tastes fresher and doesn't have that "everything is the same but in a different style of tortilla" that Taco Bell has. That doesn't mean I don't have the occasional craving for Taco Bell, but Del always wins.

Recommendations: Chicken soft tacos for sure. They're the crown jewel, with their white sauce (comes on the taco, not in a packet or anything). They're like 3 for $3 or so on Thursdays. I don't follow all of your threads, but the quesadillas are good. You can get a chicken quesadilla snacker or mini cheddar quesadilla if you just want to try it and stick to your dollar menu thing and not go all in. But they don't have the same spicy sauce taco bell does.

The chicken rollers are also good and cheap, but you can't go wrong with an epic burrito. I have no idea why they got rid of the grilled stuft burrito when Del has these. The classic chicken burrito is basically just a big soft taco.

Good luck OP, I will be looking forward to the Del thread.
