So a friend of mine made steaks one time, and they were ok, but I told her I'd make her the best steak she's ever eaten. She said that she doubted it, because she grew up pretty well off, and had eaten good meat her whole life, and had worked a grill for a few years at In and Out while in college, so she knew how to grill meat and when she grew up, the guys she'd dated had taken her to some very expensive restaurants.

After I served the steak to her, she admitted it was the best steak she'd ever eaten, and she was so jealous, that she left her much higher paying career in software sales, went to culinary school, now works at the only Michelin starred restaurant in my city, and I still cook better than she does.

I tend to dominate the space a bit. I'm accommodating in other people's kitchens or if somebody is better than me at cooking something but I've only got one friend like that and he's been working in kitchens for years. Anyway, when I'm taking the lead sometimes people are in the way. I try not to let it show though I want everyone to have a good time, I like cooking for/with my friends and my gf.

I'm a poorfag and I like to eat and drink. As an alternative to eating out I specialized in cooking batches for tenth of people at parties. No amateur beat me at this. It takes a little time and experience, but food for everybody costs as much as what I eat at the restaurant and we all get to drink much more we would there.

Nobody I know can make mapo tofu for 20+ people, or a curry for 30. Not to mention the right seasoning of any dish so it's not oversalty while nobody will need more salt, or some little tricks to enhance flavor while saving time at low risk/attention requirement (caramelizing onions in the rice cooker while some other vegetables are roasting in the oven, right amounts of spices and sourness... ).

In the end it's always a 'plat en sauce' of some kind, sometimes two options, mostly served over rice, with a side of raw vegetables and a nice dressing.

Plus some family members are keto, some veg(etari)and, some extended family is Hindu (no need) so it can be some kind of challenge sometimes.

Nobody I know can cook that much, this right, balanced and tasty for that cheap. Sure, I have to think ahead about it, but like to know I'll eat well when I drink *cough* socialize.

My girlfriend can't really cook at all. Same as her mother. I hated going to other peoples place when they are cooking. Dry meat, or undercooked vegetables. But now they just let me show up and prepare dinner. It gives me value and I don't have to eat shitty cooking.

One of my roomates cooks alot. She is so proud of her cooking, always offering tips and tricks but her food is always bland as fuck. Drives me insane.

I make a point of letting her try a bite of everything I make so she knows her food is boring. Her involuntary eye expansion of my butter delights always make me and my girlfriend laugh.
