seasoned fried fish skin is a popular snack here in singapore/asia
think of it as pig crackling(fried pork skin) but the fish version
like the pork version of it its very addictive and nice

>>14124317
you have to descale fish, anon. There are certain kinds of fish where the scales can be eaten if deep fried but its not common.

Absolutely, just make sure the scales are removed. Best way to do salmon is to sear it skin side down and baste it with hot butter on the top until it’s cooked to your liking, then serve it skin side up. You’ll get awesome, crispy skin that way.

steamed, with soy sauce, ginger, sliced tomato and green onions and drizzle of sesame oil after. Flesh will be delicate and delicious if fish is fresh. Make a few vertical cuts into side of fish so the sauce gets in.

Pomfrets have very tiny almost non existent scales so its not an issue, you could lightly scrape the skin with edge of blade or just rub with hands to get it of.

another way of cooking would be to just fry it plain and have soy sauce and chillis as a dip

fish has to be gutted and degilled, of course.

its not hard but it can be gross if you are squeamish about that kind of thing
with a sharp knife make a shallow cut from base of head to before the bottom fin
then pull out the gut stuff with your hand or scrape it out with the knife for small fishes. quick rinse under a tap and wa la
be careful not to go too deep and puncture the gall bladder, it wont kill you or anything but the flesh of the belly will become bitter
the gills are easy, just open the flap and yank/pluck them out with your hands (both sides)

the eggs if present can be cleaned, cooked and eaten

t. grandparents were fishmongers and i helped out when i was a kid

all fish is frozen to kill the bad shit inside of it before it even gets to the store you buy it from. unless you are literally catching it yourself and eating it on the spot (which is not a good idea) you are eating frozen fish
