my first job - when i was 14 - was washing dishes at a chinese restaurant. the chef was cool af. he was an amazing chef. i'm still stunned looking back all these years later at how good he was. he did all the cooking, including the prep. guy worked like 14 hours a day. he taught me how to do prep and make eggrolls, wontons, etc. after awhile i found out he was coke head, and that was how he got so much done

Physical work is rewarding and actually releases endorphins. It's the natural state of a man. You will live a longer and healthier life. And as others have said you can listen to music and be high all day and nobody gives a fuck as long as you do your job. When I worked dish at some fish shack in college for what was supposed to be "part time" I was in that bitch from 11:20a.am to 2a.m; last man out every busy night. Constantly having my 6 hour scheduled shifts bumped to 10-12 hour days too. Always getting called on my days off. Having to hop on the fryer or prep to help the line cucks catch up. Drenched in sweat because I'm constantly bringing out 50lb stacks of dishes and haling off eiffel towers of pots and pans because prep and wait staff keep stealing my goddamn cart.

Any job is hard if you have a decent work ethic and any job is easy if you work smarter or slack off, but yea, keep thinking the dish guys are so beneath you because they make $1 less an hour and don't get 10 smoke breaks a shift. I worked as a dishwasher for about a year and I enjoyed it. My autism keeps me happy as I constantly take dishes and make them clean and sparkly. I didn't find the food leftovers gross. It doesn't have time to rot.

The reason I quit was they always wanted me to do delivery. I was a shit driver woo always got lost. People would yell at me for being late, boss would yell at me for taking too long. Shitheads would whine and cry about the food prices when I told them the total.

I just want to clean things.

I was dishwashing for a while but eventually I just stop giving a fuck about doing my job competently and eventually they just trained me as a bartender instead after a few too many complaints by the chefs.

Is every single bartender an alcoholic? All of my fellow bartenders were sneaking in shots or drinking spirits/cocktails out of flasks and bottles. It was insane, basically the everyone behind the bar was tispy or bordering on pretty drunk. I've been offered swigs of flasks by coworkers before in the break room or when I'm having a smoke break..
