Didn’t they make a small shop in Europe for a day? I spent a few days on the west coast a couple years ago. Made multiple attempts to try it and it was exactly this. Every Single time I went I couldn’t even get in the drive thru line because it was already backed out into the road, then pulling into the parking lot I found every spot full with other cars already sitting in the middle of the lot waiting for someone to leave. Never had such a bad experience with a restaurant that I didn’t even end up eating at.

They apparently never use frozen beef, they get direct sourced produce and work with some select bakeries to make their sponge buns. The reason why these so called "fly-over" states get so much federal aid is because they produce essential goods and services. Agriculture is an essential service and so is coal mining; both industries are no longer profitable as they once were but they produce goods that are absolutely necessary for everyday life. Therefore it is necessary for the government to encourage the existence of these industries through federal subsidies.

The food industry is oversaturated by subsidies. People are used to getting their produce for cheap from grocery stores and all that produce as a consiquence is fucking garbage. Second; the reason you can't pay a reasonable wage that is sustainable and competitive is due to boomer and your own 50+ year age groups purchasing decisions that led to the advent of huge supermarkets like walmart that effectively destroy non kiked agriculture (which is the only leg you have to stand on, no one is going to seriously do anything but laugh you out of the room if you suggest monsanto a good keed, he dindu nuffin to dem mexicans! by both lefties and righties). Because of that monopolized destruction, you can't actually sell your produce for what its worth, and the public will also refuse to pay for what its worth. It's rediculous to call it that because farming has always been pretty close to subsistance except for certain cash crops, but the complete ownership of the monsanto/supermarket stranglehold has caused a pretty hefty food bubble in america. Food is consinstantly being sold at severely under and over its real value. And the value and labor effort needed for the kind of food anyone ate just 50-100 years ago exceeds the cost of just growing it yourself in a pot at home. tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, raddishes, beets, herbs. The problem is that farming is anyones game. If you don't like the price, the solution is just to grow it at home. you're only ever going to be able to muscle the people who have the money or no time to cook. and thats why you can't ever afford to hire anyone.

I cant speak for texas but in california its different. I live next to the first in-n-out and it's really good quality but it's not a restaurant burger. It's a good simple fast food burger. The wait time isnt really a problem in California because there are so many that while each one is busy none of them are overly packed. Except at like 3 pm on a weekday right when schools get out.

As I said "unless you are the actual farmer". The majority of labour is seasonal, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to travel the world but it does mean you'd have to jump to various farms all across the country for a steady paycheck. No life, uncertain income ... that's no way to live.

Mexicans do it because their expenses back home are much lower, if they can occasionally find other income they'll be fine. Someone with a mortgage and a family in the US will not.

If farmers want to stop depending on foreigners they will have to start creating communities around themselves again and making sure there is year round work in the region.
