Redbeard Burger in Chengdu China. shame they got chased out by surly neighbors and personal life interference. but I've never had anything approaching the heart and flavor that went on there.
secondly Byron's Burger in London. I went there first with an Azeri and a very large Egyptian; the Egyptian loved his burger so much, he ordered another one and ate it right after. desu it was a really good burger.

Truffle mayo, pickled beets, comté, pea shoots, quail egg, beef patty - not sure about the contents of the beef, but everything was fresh ground by the place. They also grew they own greens and whatnot.

The black buns were a meme, they also had regular colored buns.

I've never had a "best" burger. I've had shit burgers, but I don't think there's such a thing as a "best" burger even on a personal scale.

A burger from 5 guys compared to a diner burger compared to the local pub are all three very distinct, different kinds of burger.

Lived in a shitty methhead racist town way back, only saving grace I had when I was living there was this little locally owned place called Roby's. Their specialty burger was bun-meat-grilled onions-bun-meat-tomato-grilled onions and some other stuff that I can't remember. Pretty sure the patties were 1/4 lbs. Made me happy every time.
