Yes it is

>> No.13850392

Its the best all-purpose mayo, and also the best mayo to use as an ingredient in things that need an extra something. It is made with dashi stock and more egg yolks so it has a superior flavor that I wasn't even able to reproduce by making it at home with a recipe.

I do think there is a place for olive oil mayonnaise as well, though. Depends on what you are using it for.

Try this out. I've never made it, but it looks promising.

Love that shit. Basically got me addicted to mayo. Creamy with a nice taste. I'm almost out. Thought I'd have to somehow brave a trip to the Asian super market that's about a half an hour trip, but found it in another market close by. Probably gonna go once it gets dark to grab a few.

>> No.13850448

>>13850409
thats basically the one I used, minus the special flavorings. it tasted "good" but not as good as the real stuff. Hell, even the kind they added to American stores recently (with the sandwich on the package) isn't half as good as the Japan version. It must be Japanese egg yolks or something.
The brand is really going to suffer bad PR when people try the inferior American one and find it lacking.

>> No.13851124

yeah duke's is where its at. if you're ordering bulk or for a commercial kitchen don't get the "heavy duty" duke's because it has sweetener, defeating the purpose.

What food is best for Kewpie mayo? Onigiri is the only thing I can think of using it for.

>> No.13851588

i only ever buy mayonnaise to make burgers with, and i liked meme organic avocado oil mayonnaise better, far more acidic. but it really probably depends on what you're using it for, i think there are better options for sandwiches in general.

Kewpie mayonnaise is very common in Japan.
Ajinomoto mayonnaise is better than that.
However, there is a lot of mayonnaise that goes even further.

No, good job. I’m almost out and I can’t find it at my usual korean market right now. Might have to order it as well. Good idea. It is best mayo because of how well it mixes with stuff and doesn’t taste like shit after. Sriracha mayo, ketchup mayo, dijon mustard mayo, lemon mayo (great on deenz), horseradish mayo, wasabi mayo, chipotle mayo, ketchup/mustard/fine dill pickle dice mayo (big mac sauce). You can’t really do that as well with Hellman’s or whatnot, it really needs the kewpie consistency and lack of tang vs the more gelatinous and tangy mayo.

it's probably the best mayonnaise you'll ever be able to buy at a supermarket or grocery
I've used it in plenty of stuff and it just tastes fucking good, way above any other mayonnaise

- salmon sashimi onigiri
- Japanese potato salad
- kani (imitation crab stick) sandwich spread
- dip for various foods like fried chicken
- tuna sandwich spread
- etc...
