Ok please do not judge me for this but I did the worst thing imaginable, I bought a shitty €50 Krups espresso machine and some Lungo pods. I just have to say I am not a coffee purist, elitist or however you want to say it and that I have a simple question. The thing with the machine is that you manually put water in and it does not have any markings so you know how much you have to put in so as to get the best consistency. Manual does not give any other information.
How much water (in mL) should I put in and in what temperature? Not exactly, but should it just be room temperature tap water? I am not looking for anything luxurious, just a college student in need of some iced latte.

Depends on how much coffee is in the pod. Idk about your machine but in a professional setting we pull between 45 and 60 ml through the espresso.

The best iced coffee is made by cold drip.

Check for an app. Its all timing based. If you bought a slightly more expensive one it would have an auto off.

>> No.13842108

dont you just fill it up with water and it extracts the necessary amount? never used a cheap machine that didn't do this

If shutting it off is in your control, I'd measure it by end product: get a small cup and measure the amount of liquid it can take.

After that, it's just a question of keeping an eye on the cup filling and cutting it off before it runs too much water through it.

Mentioning the coffee machine model would've been extremely helpful too. Can't give advice if no-one knows what device we're giving advice about.

>Fill mug with water to desired amount
>Pour in to coffee machine

Just use some common sense. Clearly with an espresso you will want much less volume than a cappuccino. just fill your mug up with whatever volume of coffee would seem reasonable for that type of coffee and pour it in.

I have never heard of a machine not just pulling through the correct amount automatically though.

That's what you get when you refuse to do minimal research and rely on blind luck and guessing.

This all could've been avoided by just getting a moka pot. Or a pourover. Or just cold brewing.
Or not buying a paperweight.

Let me ask you this, what would have you done with 50 euros and ability to google in his situation?

if I had 50 euros instead of op having 50 euros i'd convert them to 78.31 canadian dollars and be able to buy like 4 months of fairly good coffee no problem
my coffee maker is a pour over i bought for 5 dollars from a liquidation place like 3 years ago, a pack of filters is half the price of the machine

frankly I don't get why pods ever took off, there are just so many good options that aren't retarded

Don't these machines have an automatic pull that draws from the reservoir as required? What model is it?
Regardless, you're looking at about 60ml for a double shot.
