What's with the hangup here about hot sauce? It's good on some stuff, not on others. Especially fried, or fatty foods. The heat and vinegar really balance the fattyness of like a fried food or like a fried egg. Come on, a nice, sunny side up egg with a few dashes of hot sauce? When it gets mixed into the runny yolk and you dip toast in it? *chef kiss*

I hear one of two things about it:

>sOy BoiS lIKe iT
I've literally never encountered that in real life. I'm not letting some internet stereotype dictate what food I eat

>vInEgAr ShItS
There is so little vinegar that you consume from a few dashes it's not even worth mentioning. Also, vinegar (sour) is one of the base flavors in cooking that's in pretty much any decent cuisine.

Crystal is a solid one. I like different hot sauces with different dishes though. Crystal is great with like fried chicken or eggs, cholula is a great all-rounder, good for breakfast foods, mexican etc., the garlickyness of sriracha is good with asian/indian food, and Pukka is super bright, fruity, fresh tasting and goes great with rice dishes, potatoes, anything that needs a little freshening up. And also Pukka is like for real hot, which I appreciate

>I'm not letting some internet stereotype dictate what food I eat

I heard the same thing, that having a hot-sauce collection is supposedly "peak Reddit". Sure, I saw that "Hot Ones" show on YouTube, and it did help me realize just how many options are out there. Oh well. If the soy media means that I have more & better choices, what's the harm? It's not like Nintendo Switch or Lego Star Wars. Not everything has to be mutually exclusive. People from all demographics enjoy spicy food and tasting new things.

In trying to distill the essence of the "soy" culture, the common threads that I see are (1) the obsession with childrens' media and toys, (2) the self-identification of their personalities with their social-media profiles, and (3) atheistic or neo-pagan liberalism.

NICE, gentlemen. Thank you for your service.

As for common supermarket sauces, summa you boys might like to try Cholula. Quite tame in terms of heat, but the flavor has a nice warmth not always found in such simple sauces - almost a little sweet, despite being zero-calorie. Great for mild food like eggs. Nice alternative to Tabasco on those DEENZ, for you /fit/izens in the audience. Cheap & easy to find. Made in Mexico. Label has a bonus picture of a pretty lady for you inveterate coomers.

And as for the much-maligned "artisanal" offerings, a current fave is Ghost Scream Vindaloo Curry (pic related). Not a scorcher, but it has a nice sharp bite, and the spices are spot-on for giving rice, veggies, & chicken some poo-in-loo flair. Superpower by... oh shit, is this what they meant? Nah, it's made in California. Anyway--delish. Buyfags will find numerous online soy merchants standing by to take your hard-earned Trumpbox when they arrive.

Come at us with your EDC, dogs, even if it's the breakfast picante packets from Maccas.

Great suggestion, King, and we agree that the sauce life is not only for buyfags but also the /diy/ crowd (as long as they leave the imitation crab meat at home). I cannot claim to have concocted a sauce per se recently, but did just a sauce-like basic-bitch tomato-pepper base for seafood stew.

* 2 cans diced tomatoes with roasted garlic & onion seasoning
* 200g chopped onions
* 200g mixed sweet peppers
* 50g habanero peppers
* ~10g fresh chopped garlic
* healthy dose of fresh-ground sea salt

Yeah, pretty pleb, but still tasty over shrimp & basmati. As with many soups, flavor improved in the fridge over the few days it lasted. But I'm sure you players can up this game. Come at me!

P.S. Because I am a lamentably ignorant and an untutored fool, until recently I thought that it was spelled & pronounced "habañero". Nah, no "enye" - it's just "habanero", HAH-BAH-NEH-RO. Apparently a lot of gringos make that mistake. Now you know! And knowing is half the battle!

This nibba knows what's up. But hey, man, there's a lot of sriracha out there. Whachu rockin'? Huy Fong - which was known as "cock sauce" back in the day, before the internet discovered it (because of the rooster on the bottle) - it remains the classic. But there are others. And incidentally Huy Fong makes other shizz too - check out this Chili Garlic joint. Pic related. It's THICC, homie, almost more of a paste than a sauce. Nice for sandwiches where a thinner sauce would soak through.

And your final words strike true, King. Sometimes we get so caught up in the sauce life that we forget about the humbler constituent spices. Recently I got some dope black peppercorns - hard to get more basic, but bursting with a flavor I did not know black pepper had.

Y'all fuck with Old Bay seasoning? Maryland REPRESENT. Salt, celery seed, red & black pepper, and paprika. In the Cheasapeake Bay hood they dump pounds of it on streamed crabs & shrimp. Superb on hard-boiled eggs too.

But hey... apparently they now have an Old Bay Hot Sauce too! Yeah dats right, you think you escapin' the sauce life but they pull you back in. The struggle is real. One on the sauce, the other on the streets. Because, you know, that's where the Amazon deliveries come from.
