Hey fags, where's the sticky? /o/ has a sticky for starter cars and how to inspect and buy it. /k/ has a sticky for how weapons work, laws on em and even history of them. /fit/ has a sticky on how to get gains and some good starter exercises. /pol/ even has a sticky on how to argue. Why haven't you lazy fucks made a sticky yet? I want to learn how to cook.
>inb4 fuck you. learn how to cook on your on
no

>> No.13773352

None of those stickies work the way you seem to think they do. Stop trying to make a sticky happen.

They are literally filled to the brim with information about their specific topics. Loads of links on how to get into the subject and general knowledge of the subject. Closest thing I can find on this board is finding a general and clicking on the pastebin links.

that's great. What do you want to learn how to cook?
Why don't you have a go at a dish and post results ITT.
We can give you advice.

is a joke but it's also true to a large extent. What would the sticky be about? Cooking? Okay, there's probably less than 10 people here who are actually really into cooking.
Combine that with the fact that no one really cares (saying "stop posting this shit faggot" is not caring) about the catalogue being shit up with low effort blogposts, foodtubers, e-celebs, cunny and fast food threads and you'll realize why there's no sticky.
This is a very casual board OP, there's no commitment to the main topic or even the quality of the board at all.

>> No.13773447

The problem is that 99% of people who come here 'wanting to learn to cook' are disingenuous and are not actually interested in doing any of the things that entail learning to cook well.
They tend to think meals should be cheap, quick, easy, 'healthy', delicious, not use any fresh ingredients, within their comfort zone of familiar foods, and they're incompetent.

So a sticky which is actually suited to them wouldn't teach you to cook well.

Whilst I believe that the recent 4Chan/4Channel spilt was a smart move by Hiro I believe that /ck/should do the same and become separate food and cooking boards. /ck/ for cooking and people who genuinely enjoy the culinary arts and /fo/ as a containment board for the McDonald’s junk food type discussion and the YouTube/Eceleb kiddies(face it, even the sh*thole that is /tv/ doesn’t want them).
My suggestion has been generally well received amongst the 4Channel IRC community and I emailed the site owner/admins for their feedback too.
What do you think /ck/? The sticky might actually get published as well!

Terrible idea.
The vaguely food related shitposting is enjoyable to all, good cooks and bad.
It's what unites us.
The same is true on a similar level for most boards.
There doesn't need to be less shitposting, just more quality posting. Be the change you want to see in the world.

We have generals for baking, vegans, liquor, steak, poorfags, fast-food, cook-alongs,coffee, tea, cookware and a number of others.
Generals are more effective than one giant stickied thread, people just have to learn to lurk moar.

I already cook shit for myself and rarely go out to eat. I just want to cook good shit. Learn how to use spices and shit.
>>13773452
nah bro I've seen the catalog. If you did that, the cooking board would get like two bumps a day.
>>13773419
might try making something in a bit. I'm good at a few good recipes my mom taught me when I was younger. Cooking skills aren't bad but my cooking knowledge is. I couldn't name shit in my op post besides grapes and pepperoni

Another thing this board needs along with the sticky is guidelines on how to post. Say for example would I be able to post this?

I caught a ban for ponyposting once even though it was just a stupid, and on-topic, meme that happened to have a pony in it rather than actual brony faggotry. So I reckon you can probably not post that one outside your degenerate containment board, no.

cooking is done differently everywhere in the world, you couldnt possibly get away with making a sticky
clossest thing to a sticky are those reddit recipe things with the stickman in that newfags read them, then ignore them and never try them

Nobody here seems to give a shit about cooking anymore, so everyone gave up on trying to teach people how to cook.

I mean, there are some basic safety tips - fire hot, don't put ice in the deep fryer, don't put an oil fire out with water, etc. But the basics of food are: if you're cooking, remember to add heat, and don't poison yourself.
