Why are so many people obsessed with this place? They are overpriced. I typically shop at Publix because it’s close to my house, but I went to Target this evening, and I paid less for the exact same products I typically buy at the Publix. I won’t be going there anymore. They are overpriced

i like their subs

Good meat and great deli food. Friendly and clean store. Employees seem happy. The BOGO items will typically end up being a few cents cheaper than Walmart.

There's one close enough to my house to walk to. Plus the fact that everything is like a nickel more expensive keeps away all the poors (coloreds).

Puhleeze, Target is convenient and has nifty store brands for coffee, crackers, cookies...but good prices? No.

People who bitch publix is expensive don't really cook much or have much money. It's really not expensive for people who buy sales and stock their pantry when the sales are going on.

You can make a sandwich with boars head meat at home. It’s just a grocery store that throws it on a roll for you. It’s basically just a somewhat better Subway. If you want a real grocery store hoagie, go to Wegmans. Of course, flyover Florida doesn’t have good things like that

Used to go to Florida for vacations because I'm a leaf.
best fucking service I've ever had at a grocery store.
The qt at the checkout even brought my bags to the car for me.
I thought she'd want a tip or something but that's just what they do I guess.
I've never had anyone be that nice to me at a store back in Canada

Publix has a good selection of produce, meat, and a solid bakery if i don't feel like making bread. It also has a much better variety of the other grocery store that is closest to me, which is Walmart. I absolutely refuse to go to Walmart, though. I'd gladly pay more for certain items so I don't have to give my money to that company and for a better overall experience. I can't really speak of Sweetbay/Winn-Dixie/Kash n' Karry/whatever the fuck that place is called now since i haven't ever been.

Hah, I used to live in NY and wegmans, waldbaums, dagostinos are several tiers below publix. Frankly the newer krogers i visited recently on a trip to ohio outshine them. Cool story though.

You can keep saying flyover until you're blue in the face but florida is, for better or worse, a destination. Mainly it is for the worse. As for the supermarket thing, you are just shrieking for the sake of shrieking at this point. The texan and the canadian and the rest have spoken.

I only go there for items I can't find at walmart. The service is ok, the fresh seafood makes the whole place smell like high noon at the pier and for the cost the steaks are sub-par.
I went there once thinking I'd get some really nice steaks. turns out, they're on par with Piggly Wiggly just more expensive. They were rather thin cut with little to no marbling. Walmart's steaks are FAR superior at a lower cost.
I'm glad that snotty pricks like >>13686153 don't go to walmart so I have more choices of steaks when I want them.

Honestly I rarely eat meat, steaks are my last choice for meat in general. But it's not a case of being snotty, I just work for Walmart so I've sworn them off.

>Employees seem happy
That's because Publix utilizes propaganda that they actually enforce, e.g. "10 seconds, 10 feet"
It's eerie and I hate it. I'd rather attempt a genuine conversation with somebody who hates their job but remains neutral on the outside, than a robot who is going through the motions because their GM is standing behind them with a checklist.
No I'm not exaggerating the last bit, I've seen it and I have a friend who worked at Publix for a year.
And it's not a one time, newbie think either. They quite literally have hourly checks where they watch the service crew and enforce that dumb bullshit where they have to cling to your cart like a banshee and beg to take it outside to you car just to get out of the store.
Publix is a decent establishment, but for none of the reasons that their emotionally disconnected corporate culture thinks.
The Gamestop of groceries as far as I'm concerned.
This shit should've stayed in south Florida and drowned with the Miami-Dade anus.
pic very much related.
Also fuck Chick Fil A. It's delicious, but again, creepy as fuck. The "My Pleasure" shit was cute until it started legitimately overriding employee's thoughts.

I worked at CFA for 4 years when I was in high school. “My pleasure” because a part of my life and I would say it during inappropriate times. Once, I was downtown and I saw this woman drop something out of her purse in accident, so I called to her, picked up what she dropped and handed it to her. She said “oh my god thank you so much” and I said “my pleasure!”. She gave me this really awkward stare and then turned around and walked off. Worst part is she was a really really hot mommy
