I stopped reading that blog when they claimed that keto doesn't burn more calories.

Keto burns an extra 300 kcal/day on average and 500 kcal/day in the highest third by insulin resistance.

it’s not a blog, but yours is
it lists a clinical trial showing its not even 50 calories

“Do carbs make you fat” is a stupid question. If you have an elementary understanding of metabolism it wouldn’t need to be asked.

ketards don’t have any real scientific evidence to their diet being better so they hunt down extreme case studies performed by grad students and third worlders

Oh, there are a lot of scientific studies on the subject. Thing is, I don't need them to know that I've lost 40 kgs since I started keto two years ago. There is something to be said about empirical evidence, particularly since I don't have to convince you of anything, you sugar-addled tastelet. Since this is now a keto thread, here's some venison döner on a chaffle.

did you track your calorie intake during those two years?

40kg in two years is terrible. I lost over 35kg down to a normal weight in 4 months while doing heavy weight training. I counted calories because any other diet is a waste of time and a meme for stupid people.

If your goal was to limit insulin release, why feed them 3 times a day + snacks? That's just dumb design. All eating leads to insulin release.

The keto diet cut insulin levels in half, this just didn't lead to more weight less.
Keto does work though, but only because it require cutting out soda and chips, and generally leads to more protein consumption.

Yeah, every person I know who tried keto for weight loss and had it work was drinking a lot of soda and eating chips, cookies, etc. all the time. I hope they eventually get tired of having to demonize all carbs and will start to learn about which carbs are healthy or not.

i don't know if ketosis is a meme or whatever but being on a keto diet definitely feels significant. i'm a skelly so i wasn't looking to lose weight but i felt sharper or more clear headed, usually it's just a constant thought stream with occasional breaks but i felt like i could meditate and control my thoughts much easier. also the limitless energy and never feeling full or hungry was nice, but i couldn't keep it up because i got tired of eating the same shit all the time

So you lost 88 lbs in two years, at a CICO deficet of 500-1000 calories a day you should/could have lost 52-104 lbs.

Could just be the benefits of getting enough fat and protein in your diet. A lot of people probably still eat too many refined carbs. And I know there are plenty of people who still think fatty food is unhealthy, even though they don't eat that much of it and are overweight while consuming a lot of sugary stuff.

>> No.13675868

>>13675793
that may be true, but i was only eating marginally more protein, and i eat healthy for the most part anyway. i know it's not ketosis but i feel the same way after breaking a fast without carbs, like having just eggs in the morning. i guess it could just be placebo but i feel like i'm very aware of my body

The metabolic advantage hypothesis has been repeatedly debunked by previous studies. I can't be arsed to read your study, but I'm guessing that they are estimating total energy expenditure (i.e. including exercise) and not just basal metabolic rate.

Ketosis increases energy levels in many people, so it's not unlikely that people on keto are more active and therefore burn more energy. And even in the absence of an improvement in energy levels, just the act of being on a new diet might motivate a person to be more active than usual. This of course is not something unique to keto. You'd likely see an increase in energy expenditure with any diet that makes people feel healthy.

They measured with doubly labeled water.

And the Kevin Hall study you think showed no metabolic advantage was reanalyzed and there was a metabolic advantage. Kevin Hall is just a terribly biased shill who can't be trusted.

It's actually 100% proven there is a metabolic advantage through mitochondrial uncoupling. It would be impossible for there not to be. More calories burned as heat means there's a metabolic advantage. It is indisputable.
