Shouldn’t panic you eventually
When you come to accept it without pain you will be ready for the coming days
Start preparing even in small ways, mentally too. Get a food supply, raise some animals and grow foods and get into canning and preserves and learn to hunt

It is pretty much impossible for the world's food supply to run out at this point.

I was at the supermarket, watching people cut in line. I started thinking about human nature. What would we do if there was no more food?

I only experience this when walking past the seafood section. That's a bad feeling.

I live in a coastal town and the ocean is fucking dead compared to 20 years ago. Sone stuff like scallops and orange roughy that were really common are basically almost gone from here, and we used to have ~250 boats on the wharf, which is like maybe 15 regularly now.

I understand that people don't want environmentalists to kill business, but you need to give the sea a bit of time to regenerate or eventually all the produce is fucked from overfishing anyway. Same with hunting. People don't care though, they're used to having these resources available for nothing and get shitty if anything changes. At least with farmers you have to actually manage what you breed and the land its on. Fishing is just some kid in a big blue candy store taking whatever he wants, and it pays absurdly well even though it's dangerous as fuck.

You're right, because I live in such a climate that they are few and far between and I don't really ever need to associate myself with them.

I used to work at a grocery store. We were a fairly small one and we'd throw away hundreds of pounds of food every day because it expired or came in damaged on the truck. It was sort of horrifying and gave me the same feeling OP is talking about.
