13623971 No.13623971 [Reply] [Original]

Is Costco not as based as people make it out to be?
I recently went to a Costco for the first time in my life, after hearing stories of how great and cheap everything is, I was excited to see what deals I could find.
Except that the only thing I found was processed foods, a woefully small fresh produce section, and all meats that were "mechanically tenderized"
Booze is okay-ishly priced, if you can work with their small selection.
The rotisserie chickens were good, but are likely morally wrong to consume; bad living conditions for the birds. And they contained carrageenin, a known carcinogen.
I bought a small cart of stuff that ended up being $200.
Why are people falling for this meme?

Mine's a grocery department the size of an entire grocery store, and a butchery department with actual butchers you can walk up to and ask for a specific part of cow that they're in the middle of cutting.

Costco is where you go to stock your pantry with dry goods and non-perishables as well as household supplies and all the wool socks you'll ever need. The meat and produce selections can vary quite a lot from store to store depending on who their suppliers are (my friend's family blueberry farm actually has a contract with CostCo, but only the upper NW stores). It's also a godsend in places like Alaska and Hawaii because they make money off memberships not products, so the prices stay the same. The weirdest place is the Salt Lake City store, it's so big that they have parkas to borrow in the dairy and produce sections. Mormons love them some Costco.

Hate it every time I go there with family, aisles packed with mouth breathers it's like shopping in a can of sardines, people are more often aggressive or apathetic than nice. The dumb boomer sample carts taking up precious room. Plus all the food is just average the only Costco brand food that's exceptional that I've found is the matcha green tea. Also don't care for their exclusive club attitude making you sign for a fucking credit card just to shop there and getting the receipt check and pat down upon leaving. in AZ we can sell all liquor in a grocery store.
beer, wine, hard alcohol

as for costco, i buy gas, eggs, heavy cream, butter, coconut oil, coffee and most if not all meat there. a $12 lasagna is a great buy to eat for lunch/dinner for a week as well

Lmao@U

Can’t even grocery shop without running into problems. Then makes a thread admitting it. If I saw you posting this thread irl I would be out of air laughing at what a fucking failure you are.
