So my friends I have never tried alcohol ever and I want to do it so I looked on the internet and found out how to do sugar wine, basically what I did was get a 1 litre plastic bottle, I put half a cup of sugar in it, then 2 teaspoons of baker's yeast, then I added 2 cups of warm water, result was pic related, I know to keep the lid half open so it doesn't pop, but how long do I wait and should I know anything else? Thx

by the way i am not underage i'm just arab which explains why i never had any experience with alcohol

Japanese are not good at making whiskey.
Trying to make a soft whiskey with no habit destroys your personality.
Although Nikka is a major manufacturer, it values individuality.
That's why Japanese drinkers love Nikka.
But Japanese manufacturers continue to challenge.
Challenges show the future.

Now, if you want to drink good alcohol made in Japan, there is Sake.

In the west Hibiki Harmony is considered to be a very good Japanese whiskey that's not too hard to find. Others are Nikka From The Barrel and Nikka Coffey Malt. Just keep in mind that a lot of jap whiskey is sweet, has mild flavors and is generally very inoffensive designed in a way as to be friendly to inexperienced drinkers so if you like your whiskey strong and smokey it might not be for you. Irish to japanese is probably a relatively small step though so you might be good.

i think your bourbon shelf would be better stocked if you knew... anything about bourbon. If you want a good Beam product try Knob Creek 100 or 120 and if you want a good Jack product get better taste, otherwise try Eagle Rare or buffalo trace. Also if you drink rum i highly recommend El Dorado 12 year (avoid the 15 year its not the same recipe)

Suntory has great blending technology. Hibiki12 is a good whiskey. Suntory is Japan's top manufacturer.
However, Japanese whiskey is overvalued for its scarcity. I think the price is extraordinary.
Nikka is serious. Nikka values individuality. Nikka values malt over blend. Japanese drinkers love Nikka.
Due to Japan's malt shortage, neither blended Tsuru17 nor pure malt TakeTsuru21 are available at this time.
The price of Japanese whiskey has soared.
And that brings up a small Japanese manufacturer.
Small Japanese manufacturers are still not good at making whiskey.
However, as prices have risen, small manufacturers are also breathing. And they are experienced.
Japanese whiskey is immature. But it is fun.
Suntory harmony. Nikka's sincere personality. Small manufacturer challenge.
Many Japanese whiskeys are incomplete.
If you can forgive its unfinishedness, you will be able to love Japanese whiskey.

The maker that created it has developed a new still pot for the whiskey.

I work in a liquor store with a large whiskey selection and I am absolutely fucking sick of this Blanton's hype.
I have people who come in, ask if we have Blanton's, and just leave when i tell them we don't. they don't even consider other bourbons.
Lots of stuff is better for less.
WT Rare breed, Makers CS, Noah's Mill, everything from Wilderness Trail, Four Roses Single Barrel and Small Batch, Baker's, Knob Single Barrel, Old Forester 1897 and 1920, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof.
Are all superior bourbon, and most of them cost less and are more available, but the Blanton's people don't want to hear it.

The guy even told me that the Blanton's was going fast, and even though I heard good things I thought nothing of it. I still want to try it one of these days, but it's next to impossible to find. I'm not going to hold it on a pedestal when I do though, but the outrageous hype has me intrigued.

Look i've drank plenty of bottles of Blanton's at this point. Is it a good bourbon? Yes it is, especially if you like your bourbon on the spicy side. Is it the best bourbon? No. Is it hard to find because it's so good? Nope. It's hard to find because it's very in fashion and rarity breeds demand. It's a name that people know even if they aren't into bourbon. I buy it because I like it and because i only come across a bottle once in a while. I can buy Woodford reserve Bourbons everyday in every liqour store. There's nothing special about it because i can get it any time, anywhere. It's nice to have a special bottle on the shelf to pull out for guests. It is a gracious host that shares a hard to find liquor with his guests. I definitely keep other bourbons on my shelf. I keep some Maker's Mark for mixed drinks, Basil Hayden's for my go to bottle and a bottle of Blanton's for flexing.

Can you get fresh grapes?
Grape skins have alcohol producing yeasts naturally occurring on the skin.
If you really want to do bootleg closet booze, here’s what to do.
Get an airtight 30 litre lidded bucket. Drill a hole in the lid and install a grommet that fits a 5-10mm hose. Sterilise it by wiping it down with methylated spirits.
Dissolve 4kg sugar in 3 litres of boiling water, add to the bucket. Add tap water to 21 litres of total volume at about 29 degrees Celsius temperature. Add 1kg of crushed grapes for sugar and yeast. Depending on how squeamish you are, you can spit in the bucket once or twice: saliva contains amylase, which helps break down sucrose into glucose so the yeast can process it better.
Close the bucket and run a tight fitting hose from the grommet into a bucket of water, creating an airlock. At 20 to 24 degrees, this should stop fermenting in 8-14 days.
Once it stops fermenting, you can drink it right away, or freeze distill it.
To freeze distil, put a litre or two in the freezer for 24 hours. Pour the mix through a wire strainer and discard the icy slush, keeping the liquid. This liquid should be about 20-28% alcohol.
Also, /diy/ has a homebrew thread that can help you. Godspeed, Anon.

I can't say I'm too concerned about texture. Taste and scent are certainly what's important.
As for spiciness; it isn't very spicy. It's nowhere near a rye whiskey, let alone a spicy scotch like Talisker.
Glenlivet 12 is delicate and fruity. It has an unusual pineapple note. Glenlivet 18 is just as delicate and fruity but that is balanced with a lot of oaky complexity.

Macallan is overpriced, but still costs less than Redbreast.

Bowmore is more cost effective, but a little less refined (I liked it, but on /ck/'s terms I have a pleb palate) Ardbeg was better, costs more, but the smokiness of the whisky is similar to bowmore. Some people hate peated whisky, so if you cant get a dram of one at a whisky bar, I'd suggest just grabbing a bottle of McLellands Islay (Kind of a no name brand of single malts) to see if you like the smoky flavour, before committing to the price of an expensive bottle.

Well, there's your problem. Tea bags are filled with low quality, left-over leaves called "dust and fannings". The old saying goes that teabags are filled with the dust swept up off the factory floor.
You want full leaf tea from a reputable importer for the good stuff.

One of my friends made pruno the way you’re describing and it’s a lot more work for something which tastes kinda disgusting. Plus his mom got suspicious about the sketchy container of liquid. 2 days of work and 2 bottles of sanitizer can get you 200 ml of hard hard shit. I often drop 10 ml of it inside of simply lemonade. I call the straight extract “moonlite” because it’s kinda like moonshine but easier so with the lemonade it’s “sunlight”. Nothing is obviously ideal and a whole bottle a week is obviously too much. But you're obviously trying to minmax your alcoholism like a shitcunt so lucky for you the British government has already run the numbers on how to binge drink while causing minimum acceptable harm.

Assuming 40% abv, a 750mL bottle should be spaced out over two weeks, and you should not drink more than 120mL in a single day.

If you're drinking higher or lower abv, figure out how many Standard Drink Units that works out to and follow this guideline.

IDK I just got into whiskey and I really like the word. I'd avoid using it around anyone who wouldn't know it though.

the word 'shot' implies that I'd be shooting the whiskey, just slamming it. If I'm ordering whiskey to sip, it's the same amount, and possibly served in the same glass (the bar I work at only has rocks glasses, so that's how we serve shots). However, the term dram lends itself well phonetically to a drink that you'll sip.

then again, I have ~$400 of cask-strength single malt whiskys on my shelf right now, so maybe I'm a fedora after all.

are simple enough, there's two opposing styles and you either like one or the other. the complication comes in both producers and newer consumers either trying to merge the two groups to create a product that pleases everyone or with not knowing about the division.

ipa: team hops vs team malt

peat/hops > oak/malt, at least in my opinion. simple as.

All sorts of reviewers recommend this but then I see a bunch of regular people say it's pretty bland and flavourless though I can never tell if those are just the people who only drink Isla and shit on everything else on principle just because it's not for them and everything that isn't for them is shit. Was going to try it myself but then I saw that even the distiller says it's for mixing and decided to go for something else. Feel free to try to change my mind though.

I have nothing against mixing but I just prefer my spirits neat. Every time I drink some simple cocktail like a whiskey and coke or a kentucky mule I find myself disappointed. I think it's because I like the soda as a drink when I'm a bit thirsty and want the carbonation to cut through something like the salt and grease in chips where as with alcohol I usually want to sip it by itself and relax with it. The situations that I associate with these are very different and in a mix they clash so it takes out the refreshing nature of the soda and hides all the other flavors of the spirit except the alcohol.

It lacks the intensity of a single malt.
Apparently it contains Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie.
I can't get a hold of Kininvie, but Glenfiddich and Balvenie are both better and more intense.
Johnny green is the other big blend with known ingredients; Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, Caol Ila. Again I haven't tasted one - Linkwood. But the rest are all far more intense by themselves.

The only blend I've had that didn't lack intensity is the 6 isles. That said there are flavours in its constituents (particularly Ledaig) that are not detectable. The peat stacking works well, but everything not in common between the ingredients is lost.

This is the problem with blends. They can be nice. Phenomenal even. But they are not intense. Even if you enjoy a delicate whiskey, Speyside single malts contain more flavour.

Chilling whisky kills the flavor. A little room temperature water in whisky can open up the flavor. Using chilling stones, chills without adding water so its doubly retarded, and any real whisky drinker will mock you.

That being said, drink it however you want, but it would be a shame to waste good scotch with meme rocks or ice.

Anyone try pic related, or have a cognac recommendation that isn't super expensive? Also what's the best way to drink it? I was thinking on ice during the warmer months while I'm outside having a cigar, sounds real comfy to me.

Sugar, water, bitters, ice, bourbon or rye, orange peel is the gist of it. I make mine a little more girly with a muddled orange and a few maraschino cherries.

Honestly boomers who dont understand that there are multiple places that serve different types of alcohol fucking piss me off
>own a brewery
>some boomer fucks come in
>"oh do you make all this beer?" No we are just called a brewery for no fucking reason
>wife wants wine gets offended I dont have any (licensing is a bitch) "well this is a bar isn't it why cant you get me wine or a cocktail"
>other boomer is mad we don't have coors or as he calls it "real beer" (its weaker than anything I have on tap)
>my personal favorite "I really like ale" good for you? You like anything not lagers and mixed fermentation then?
I try not to be an elitist but I dont understand people who just consume and dont try and understand. I'm always trying to learn more about what I eat and drink so I can make better decisions. Age War when?

Sounds real fucking pretentious to me.

Black people because a bunch of rappers drink cognac straight from the bottle in award shows. Like seriously look up some articles that have a clickbait headline along the lines of "10 reasons to drink cognac!" and one of the reasons is always "important people like Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z drink cognac so it's cool". Old white guys on boats have a lot of money, cognac can cost a ton of money and it's a status boosting drink and all that makes a nice little bundle for people who have the money and want to show it.
