yeah i got a sense from watching a lot of asian market videos on youtube. what is the texture like? it looks crispy and crunchy on the outside, but i've never had squid so i don't know about the flesh, is it all rubbery?

>> No.13452083

Hard to find good roadside food here. Just shitty trucker diners and gas stations that might have a slice of cold pizza. If were travelling we just pack a bunch of snacks and eat when we get there.

hmm, i thought they'd be like scallops where as long as you didn't over cook them they stayed nice and tender, but that might be asking too much of a skewer of deep fried squid from a roadside fast food vendor

>> No.13452124

>>13452074
very thinly crispy coating yes, but its not crunchy

only the tips of the small tentacles are rubbery. The inside is marinated so its like soft and almost gooey (but in a good way). A lot of umami.

Wild corndogs grow everywhere around here. A quick snack or light lunch can be had just by pulling over on the side of the road and picking up one or two. They go great with mustard, even raw.

Here in Bay Area Cali we have deep fried butter on a stick. Pretty popular in San Francisco and the southern Bay area around San Jose. Especially popular on cool foggy days. Warms you right up.

I insulted someone at my work who is Latin American though when I was talking about how much I love pupusas. She said she had never even heard of that and acted like I was trying to be hip by referencing some sort of Taco Bell creation...

Most gas stations here do fried food: chicken, potato logs, corn dogs. Then you get the hot dog warmer: pic related. Other than that you might see a tamale stand but everyone drives in 99% of the US so yeah its not really limited to stands or stalls
