Which country has the best and which country has the worst food and why, /ck/?


I will start with an obvious one

Worst food: America. Best food: Spain.

American is full of fat/salt, too much and dishes are basically stolen and made worse from other countries. (see Pizza, Spaghetti or Goulash etc.) Spanish has a lot of fish and tastes real well.

America is pretty based with their food. Your baseline shit is fatty and salty but there are an overwhelming number of gastropubs and restaurants that are constantly coming up with some of the most amazing shit.

Worst: Fiji. The dishes they do from overseas are generally poor comparisons and they only pick really lowbrow boring shit (schnitzel, pastas etc) and the native cuisine is absolutely revolting, bad cuts of tough, gristly pork with fruit. The only good food I had there was Indian and even that wasn't as good as the Indian back home.

Best: Singapore, stupidly cheap and really good overall, better Chinese food than in China by far. The fine dining scene there is the best I've tried anywhere, and way cheaper (I got more expensive food that wasn't as good in America and France).

The problem with UK food is that our markets are forcing American style food on the populace. Cheap, sugar and fat-filled garbage of little nutritional value.

Traditional UK food was always quite utilitarian and basic, but the strength was the ingredients, almost always local and cooked with very little superfluous nonsense added. Also our traditional processed foods like cheese, baked goods, preserved meat etc was and still is top class.

The problem with modern UK food is the same as everything else in the UK. Corproations have convinced everyone to copy America, because that's where the greatest profits lie. As a result we sell our prime ingredients abroad for a big profit, then buy in vastly inferior ingredients to feed ourselves.

Unfortunately the generations of home cooks who actually made good British food are dying now, and we're left with a few boomers and then Gen X-ers who think microwaves are the peak of technology, and McDonalds is artisanal because they advertise on the telly.

Best: Argentina. Delicious cuts of meat, cooked perfectly, everywhere. Lots of Italian options.

Worst: anywhere Baltic. If you're lucky you can find a decent goulash, otherwise you can eat fucking pickled, salty fish.

Wrong. American food, for the most part, is too sweet, I can say this from living here my whole God damn life. I used to gobble that shit up as a little retard, but now its actually fucking nauseating. Salt is good in reasonable quantities, like PR food is really pushing it. Hard to say where the best food is from, though. Almost everything I've tried is pretty good, but a little too much or not enough of something if I'm forced to be picky.
