Farmed salmon is generally vastly superior to wild, unless you catch the wild salmon yourself.

Fresh salmon is gill netted, then it dies in the water, is scooped up a couple days later, dumped into a hold with many tons of other completely dead fish, then a few days after that the boat hits port where after a day or two the salmon is unloaded, cleaned, and then shipped.

Farmed salmon is taken from the water, killed and cleaned, and kept ice cold with pumpable ice technology until it's packaged and shipped.
