What’s your favourite hot sauce to add some flavour to otherwise bland food?
For me, I dab some Zab’s.

I just slice a pepper and mix that into the food.

For a workhorse vinegar sauce I like Crystal. For just about everything else I like Marie Sharp's (press S to spit on Melinda's). And my homemade hot sauce isn't bad either, just funkier than most sauces you can buy.

For a little flavor, try the stuff from the fresh chile company. Start with the flavor of chup. Remove the sweet, add a small amount of heat. Fantastic daily use stuff.

For Mexican-style stuff Huichol or Valentina black.

For eggs and other completely flavorless food, either dried red pepper flakes mixed in or a vinegar sauce like the tab-ass-co.

Depends on what I'm eating, but usually we keep a couple different brands of hot sauce on hand.

My usual favs are El Yucateco regular, Yucatan Sunshine, Cholula, and Valentina regular.

Matouks west indian picante sauce is pretty good too.

I swear I'm not a Marie Sharp's shill but her Belizean-style sauces are flavorful with good heat levels. Belizean hot sauce is carrot and pepper based which means that it's a bit sweeter and fruitier than Mexican-style hot sauce.
And I also love that Marie's sauces have very few ingredients and NO preservatives or added colour. Highly recommended. It's not cheap, though.

I tried Marie Sharps for the first time today. The $5 price tag kept me from trying it sooner. But it really is worth it. I got the "comatose heat level" one and it was this perfect balance of fruity peppers, carrots and a respectable burn. I'll definitely be keeping some around from now on.

The aforementioned valentina black label is worth trying for a mexican style, or tapatio which is really common and probably my personal favorite for a mexican style. More heat though and a little more obscure try busha browns pukka sauce, it's bright red and has seeds in it, and nice heat. Great on chicken. Also if you want something different you can use often arizona gunslinger is great, the heat is pretty low but it has a nice smoky flavor, I used to always put it on pork chops.

Why do people act like hotsauce adds flavour to food, it adds the flavour of the hotsauce but thats not really a good flavour for generally bland food. Its not a spice or anything
