How can I make cookies come out more aesthetic? They taste great, but they don’t look very nice. How can I get those big round, gooey cookies

You hand roll the dough into a sphere or disc shape and/or press it down

Even if I did that, the cookies in my OP still wouldn’t look like the other pic

That's a different recipe from the one you're using.

the picture for the recipe I use looks similar to the cookies in that picture. I compared both recipes but they are almost identical

i.e. not identical.

form a cylinder with the dough, cut itinto disks, and flatten them with a rolling pin

So where are my cookies on that then? Because I followed the recipe exactly

Interesting

You need a few ice cream scoops of various capacities, and for the bigger scoops, you need to have a uniform way to press it down. I think my wife uses a parchment wrapped diner style spatula, where the parchment has been sprayed with baking nonstick oil spray. For the smaller cookies you don’t need any smushing.

How flat should I make them?

You followed one recipe, the other cookie is clearly a different recipe.
Follow the dang recipe.

Freeze overnight and incinerate after.

This is why you do test batches and keep notes the first time you make a recipe. For example your first sheet might be small, unsmushed, small, half-smushed, medium, unsmushed, medium half-smushed. You’d pick the most promising and start tweaking it to get your desired result. A lot of planning goes into a good cookie.

we can go back and forth until tomorrow
if you want someone to actually troubleshoot your cookies, post what you actually did, amounts and everything, and then post the recipe, so we can compare

Use a recipe on the back of a chocolate chip bag and not the already made stuff from the store and don't put the cookies close together on the baking sheet. If you want them round, they have to have room to spread as they cook. If they are close to other cookies, they'll have corners and be more square like.

I want some cookies now. Hot, right out of the oven cookies.
