After working at a sub shop, I won't touch tomatoes, tuna salad, chicken salad, or guacamole. I have seen how the tomatoes come in from the wholesaler before they get cut up, and its the same wholesaler supplying all of the other restaurants. Then I have seen how the chicken / tuna salad and guacamole are "kept" day after day. 99% of the people who work at a sub shop have zero motivation to do even a minimum standard job - including management, and they are the ones responsible for making, storing, and tracking the date on those tuna / chicken salads and guacamole. The one time I went against my rule and got chicken salad some place, I got 2 days worth of horrific food poisoning.

I knew a guy who got a tuna sub from Subway and said he thought it tasted weird when he was eating it then he started vomiting like crazy. I met him several years after the incident and he was still complaining and had health problems lingering from it. I will never order anything like that at a fast food joint now.
