Yellow dragon fruit is far too underappreciated and under distributed. We're seeing a shift with new imports being approved from Ecuador but the battle is far from over. Don't be deceived by it's pale flesh, bland, autistic cousin .. the red skinned dragon fruit. I've heard the purple flesh variety can be sweet but the ones we get in the midwest are always as bad as the white flesh ones.

Santa Claus melon are also up there, maybe my favorite. They don't have a scent and have a hard skin so they often get passed up. It's sad. I probably buy 20-30 of them every season.

Properly ripe honeydew is an affordable runner up but PROPERLY RIPE, none of this early picking crap. I'm talking about the ones with soft flesh that's orange in some spots - they actually have a mild honey taste and are incredibly sweet.

Champagne mangos and black figs too. The mangos have to be the kind that have syrup oozing out the stem part. Figs have to be early season, at least where I am. That's when they're the softest. I can't stand the firm ones that come later. Maybe they're good for cooking though idk.

Specialty dates are good and available in the winter too. I love a good Zahidi. Not to sweet so I can have a handful as a snack.
