Don't do it anymore but

Grubhub

Greater Los Angeles area

Worked 11 AM to 11 PM Monday-Monday, so I guess 84 hours/week

Customers were decent, some very nice, some very rude (as if it's my fault the restaurant took 30 minutes to start on your order and another 15 minutes to get to your place and another 5 to find parking)

Restaurants treated me like a cog in the machine. Some were actually rude. I would get orders that were 50 minutes late and the restaurant would blame me even though I literally just got the order and got there within 10 minutes.

Free food when the customer would cancel the order or would refuse to answer the door. Maybe one free meal a week.

There really is no way to maximize tips since the tips are built into the order with almost every delivery app as a part of the order cost. I got a $60 dollar tip on a $300+ order once which was cool. Also, much higher tips during Christmas.

I drove a beater which got killed by a dude who ran a solid red light and hit me almost head on. I stopped driving for Grubhub after that.

Never tried any other app, but the pay was not bad if you were willing to put in the work. Probably averaged $200/day. You get fairly lonely as you're on the road for most of the day and every in person interaction is fleeting.

Overall, I had a good time and learned a lot about the area but for some reason I would get filled with a sense of dread every time I heard the notification on my phone to go pick up an order.

I ride a bike and I hate how I have to babysit the Doordash app or they kick me offline. And they spam me with SMS and warnings in return, shit like "we noticed you aren't heading towards the diner, please move in the proper direction".

The pay is shit too, I just get barraged with $5 offers like always, sometimes even less now with the new payout calcuation.

Forget UberEATs, they still won't tell me where the dropoff location is until I pick up the food. Suicidal on a bicycle.

Grubhub is my favorite because it doesn't pull this funny shit, and people seem to tip far more. I waited 3 months to get on and it's worth it. It's a shame Doordash is eating up their marketshare - a profitable company out of Chicago losing to another shitty San Francisco 'startup' surviving only off venture capitalists. Even lied in advertising when they said "keep 100% of your tips".

uber eats, financial district/inner city, dinnertime.

Customers are generally ok, I get cash tips sometimes. I've had undressed customers show up, it wasn't as nice as I'd imagined it to turn out, they're generally ugly and smell bad. Worst customers are those who work in wall street type offices, they'll order like $50 worth of fancy hipster foods, ask to meet in the lobby of the building, then when they show up they are super disrespectful, won't acknowledge that I'm there, won't look me in the eye, act like I'm inferior or some shit.

Restos can be super nice to super shitty. I'm in a group chat of around 200 other food couriers, and we have a group blacklist of certain places where we won't accept orders from and let the noobs take care of.

I've gotten free fruit smoothies, free pizza, and free fries.

I ride a shitty bike so it doesn't get stolen, because where I'm from bike theft rates are really high.

Uber used to pay a lot more, it's a bit less now. I however just stick to Uber since the other apps, especially DoorDash and STDs will steal your tips if the customers tip thru the app.

DoorDash/UberEats

Orlando/UCF area

>hours
Uasally from around 5-11 been going out later cause the traffic is so shit its more profitable to do it when it dies down a bit.

>how do restaurants/customers treat you
Mostly pretty nice. Only ever had a few shit customers. Its when they try to fuck with you by not putting the pin in the right location and give you shit directions. One guy pist me off so much I stayed put in an apartment area and waited for him to come to me. He giving stars yelling at me that I vane do my job and to smart about this. I stayed in my car and handed over the food, and was like, "Bye"!!!

>free food drinks
Once in a while I'll get a mint/hard candy. One time got a $1 hazelnut chocolate at this Italian place. A lot of places offer a free drink if you have to wait a while.

>sex
Nice fantasy.

>"""maximize""" tips
I bought two $3 insulated grocery bags. I always text the customer that I'm on my way and that I have their food in an insulated bag. I'm honestly battled at how many people don't use them. I know this is a bottom barrel job, but damn.

>shitbox
No, but I need to do maintenance on it. Getting new windshield wiper brushings in and need my transmission looked at since it tends to like not to shift back down to low gear. Other minor problems is right door doesn't unlock with key(too lazy to fix it) and my left door frame is bent a little due to getting car key out. I need to buy self-harding foam to seal it up to stop water from getting in. Otherwise the car is fine. I honestly live it and hope I get to 300,000 till it dies; at 150,000.

Uber definitely pays a little less, but door dash is shit now. Even when they where being funny with the tips the minimum you got for every order was $6. Now you have a """desirability""" man behind the curtain where they can either pay you $2-$10 + whatever people tip. It sucks cause I'm in a uni area so you don't get tipped as much. The adverage now is $4.

>which app pays more
Used to be doordash, but I find uber better even with the slight pay decrease. It seems people tip more now than they used to. Also its great when you get an order from hipsters or rich neighborhoods. Rich tend to tip nicely.

>ect.
One difference between doordash and ubereats is 1) doordash can be a bit slower as far as picking up orders go. UberEats I find to be snappier and faster paced; this makes doordashes pay decrease worse. 2) Ubereats can end up taking you all over the place more since it doesn't restrict you to an area. Like from UCF, around winter park, then south side ect. The one area I won't do is down town. Fuck down town. I have to go back to my cashier cuck job, but I'll post why later.

GH is easily the best but the competition has pushed them to make incrementally worse changes to the app from a drivers perspective. we used to know when the order was placed upon accepting, now we don't. batches pay a lot less, and all pay has gone down a bit. i recently got uber credit, about $60 remaining. always think about about using it for uber eats, but the fees turn me off and there's not a lot of good places near my house or work in brooklyn. also, threads like this make me think its not worth rolling the dice on food that comes an hour late from people that arent paid enough to care. i know some of you guys care but you honestly have no reason to, and i dont really expect things to get better, except for the guys who own the apps.

I always try to be professional but I see so many pajeets with no insulated bag and sandals being rude to the restaurant employees that it makes me sick. that said, usually when you're missing an item it's the restaurant's fault since the driver shouldn't be poking through your bag making sure everything's there. a drink that doesn't go in the bag ideally should be double checked by the driver but again it's 100% on the restaurant cuz our job literally is to move stuff from point a to

I did Deliveroo a couple christmases and over a summer, in London. it was pretty good, my area is very flat so it was pretty easy and it was fun to explore around a bit more than i normally do. tips werent great but thats the UK for you, base pay was decent so it didnt matter.
i did one shift in the zone next to me once though and it was hilly as fuck, one giant hill in particular had me dying, and i had to go straight back over it after getting the food over the other side. zero tips that entire shift too

I used to do pizza delivery in the early 2000s in the UK. Really opened my eyes to the realities of life and how appearances can be deceiving.

>Nice big wealthy houses in expensive areas were the worst. They spoke to you like shit (you're eating literal garbage food my man) and would never tip (it's not expected in UK, but almost everyone says 'keep the change' if it's not much).
>I had people in 10 bedroom mansions make me stand and dig out 1p change from my bag
>One guy with about 6 cars parked in his huge yard said 'I want the 2p change' while handing me £30 for his £29.98 order. Absolutely hammering rain, about 11.30pm in winter.
>I didn't have 2p in my change bag, I apologized and said if he really wanted it I'd bring it on my next run back from the shop
>He demanded I go to my car to look for one
>I went to my car and drove off
>Got back to the shop and he was on the phone to my Indian boss. Boss told the customer to fuck off and never order again
>Get an order for an 80p bag of chips to a 1 bedroom poverty house in the shit end of town
>Old lady answers and hands me £3 and says 'keep the change love, the weather's awful'
>Refuse it and say the boss said they're on the house because she always orders. Paid for them myself.
>Go to my car and grab her a free 2ltr bottle of soda too
>Orders over £20 get a free bottle, but I kept them on my car to give to poor people and nice customers, and always told assholes 'Sorry I forgot the pop, I'll bring it on my next trip out'

Those bottles of pop were my secret weapon in addressing the cosmic unfairness in the world, of nice people having so little, and miserable bitter assholes having so very much.

DoorDash

New Jersey

10am - 2pm Usually. 5pm-9pm if I want to deliver more. I just steal time slots by spam refreshing the area until whatever becomes available and snipe it. Still works after 2 years. Heard that makes people who apply for time slots days ahead of time seethe.

Customers treat me well. Only had one issue with a lady expecting me to provide silverware where she was threatening me over text.

Most restaurants treat me like subhuman garbage. Probably have spent more time waiting at a restaurant than actually delivering.

Free drinks happen maybe once a week, nothing more.

Doesn't really matter since you usually tip as your placing the order unless you tip in cash. In that case, Invest in insulated bags, not the shit ones that DoorDash gives you. Breathable ones too so you don't have soggy paper bags that'll break as soon as you take them out of the insulated bag. Apparently the GrubHub bags are high quality too. Also be sure to keep in contact with the customer if anything goes wrong, even traffic if it's above estimated delivery time

2014 Toyota Corolla LE, Econoshitbox more like it, but it does everything it needs to. Only big issue I had to deal with it while delivering were two popped tires due to potholes over the past two years, but those can be written off on taxes so it's not too much of trouble.

The new pay model is horrible for my area because people just don't tip. I have to take it up the ass and take $5 all the time now.

I've only done DoorDash because I missed the window to apply to GrubHub in my area. Now they're not hiring at the moment.

About 1,300 deliveries so far, though at the moment I've stopped to focus on my studies and probably will wagecuck at something with more job security.

Actually Uber in particular is getting cucked once they went public stock. People are seeing they aren't really different from a taxi service besides the fact they can wage cuck harder. I think I read a rumor somewhere that they fired off a chunk of their programmers for H1B1s (would explain the app getting shitty). Also theres a bill being debated that I think would make it so big jobs like uber would have to start providing battery benefits to drivers, which would cuck them harder. Since drivers actually don't want this cause it would possibly take away jobs. I need to read into more, but I'm kinda leaning towards them offering more benefits. I know it would mean people out of jobs but allowing for over reliance on gig jobs that wage cuck you to profit off of is shit in the long run.

Uber is way more efficient than a taxi. A fucking taxi medallion in NYC cost upwards of a fucking MILLION, which takes forever for the cabbies to pay off while overcharging customers.

The reason Uber laid off so many people is because of their over investment in self driving & food delivery, which are all burning cash with no signs of profitability.

What drivers deserve doesn't matter, because they're not going to get what they deserve. What's factually going to happen is they're not going to be able to multi-app and they're probably going to be rostered into shifts. Their pay will drop, and they'll get healthcare.

>in murka their food order doesnt come in tamper-proof sealed and stickered boxes

I bet its fucking intentional, so you soycreatures get scared into tipping and paying the wagies instead of Mr. Nosenberg. You also pay on the internet here so no tipping is ever expected and most of the delivery guys are still courteous, young white dudes.

Can you believe my friend's insane brother ordered Wawa food with Grubhub? Of all the things to order with that expensive fucking service, he ordered run-of-the-mill convenience store sandwiches. Why are people like this?

This is exactly what I always pictured would happen when I first noticed these services popping up left and right. I don't want to pay for the service, then tip a driver who is responsible for my food being 3 hours old, cold, and soggy.

Fomer driver here. Got out and finished my degree, my prayers are with you current anons.

>Waitr, UberEats

>Multiple locations in Texas

>any that I could get, typically noon until 5pm, or a 4pm until 11:00pm/close, M-Sa. But I wasn’t picky.

>mostly okay, but on holidays and gamedays and any day that wouldn’t be considered “normal”, got yelled at, flipped off, forced to redo an order. And the management was no help. Meanwhile Mr. Porkins and his oinker family ordered 200$ worth of food and I can’t fucking carry it all in the hotbag. And when I did, they would complain when I had to make multiple trips to my car to get all their shit.

>pretty good. Mostly they would be the ones behind schedule or fucking up orders but would be nice to me about it and apologize profusely. I think they didn’t want their reputation tarnished since these apps bring in a lot of business

>a lot of free drinks and food. Sometimes offered booze on the weekends or holidays but I would turn it down. Had a few waitresses flirt with me and a few customers chat me up, but when youre getting assigned order after order you dont have time to socialize.

>people rarely paid cash for tips, they always did the tip on the credit card. They originally allowed us to pick what orders we could pick up on the app, when that was a thing I would typically pick orders from nice/high-end restaurants, since people typically tip more if they’re paying more for the food. Loved anytime I delivered to rich white boomers, they were generous.

>2010 Honda. It gets the job done. No aux cord or bluetooth shit so I rock my headphones every day.

> I worked for them for about seven months when they first came to Texas (Waitr). I made most of my money during the weekends. Tried UberEats a handful of times but the shifts would often overlap so I eventually had to stick to one foodcuck app.

>The ones I did paid about the same I’m guessing. I never really cared to calculate them.

Prep takes a few minutes to wash and chop some veg. Then you either put it in a pan or the oven, turn it on, and check it every so often until it’s done.

It’s not like you’re sitting there breaking rocks from start to finish.

>$200 a day

Before or after gas? Also how is the car, that $200/Day is great, but repairs are my primary concern which would possibly net me under profit over time
