Miso soup is high in sodium, but the Japanese eat lots of it and other foods high in sodium and live much longer than amerifats. So I wouldn't let high blood pressure stop you, unless you have something more complicated like kidney failure or something.
Sodium restriction isn't indicated for simple hypertension in an otherwise healthy patient.
