No, I've gone vegetarian over the past year and I'll never eat bugs.

I'll get all my protein from beans, thanks.

Did you have a lot of exposure to material which is bound to affect one's opinions on the ethics of meat consumption prior to your experience? Would you mind sharing more detail on what your experience was?

I still don't understand the whole "eating bugs is a psy-op" thing. I'm asking honestly what that paranoia is about.

Every time I ask for an explanation I just get someone spamming out about j**ish conspiracies and basically saying anyone who has to ask is already brainwashed. Super informative stuff.

I see a lot of benefits. What's the concern?

It'll be made into paste, and shaped into McRib, you won't even know you're eating it.

Best part, when you find a bug in your food now, they'll just blame manufacturing, like finding a piece of gristle in your chicken.

I eat beans often, but they provide only a minority of the protein in my plant-based diet. Every unprocessed food contains protein. If you are nothing but whole wheat, you'd be just a little short on lysine. People act like civilizations didn't thrive on it.

A lot of the eco fascists are pushing to try and get people to eat much less meat, or even less vegetables that make a lot of CO2 (like asparagus) while hyping up how great bugs are. People are not interested in eating something as revolting as bugs unless they are powdered form (or animal feed). There's a reason our cultures never developed the need or interest in eating them or outright prohibited them (Judaism, Islam excluding locusts I think). It's very suspicious when the rich and affluent tell us to cut back on our little pleasures while you know they will not be eating bugs day in and day out.

>> No.13095373

The only insect I'd eat is Grasshopper, due to them not being as icky, and their superior nutritional content over crickets even. Crickets have cholesterol and less protein when compared to grasshoppers.

Pay some celebrities to pretend rich people eat them,
then normalize them in a deepfried form but artificially restrict the supply at first.

It really doesn't matter what's used as a substrate for fried herbed and spiced breading. Plain chicken is very bland.

bug meat in like a ground meat format could be good. if they normalize it then that means it would probably seem less gross to me. So sure why not.

Yeah, probably.
I don't have high standards, and if everyone else is eating it, might as well.
That said, they will never normalize it because I'm pretty sure the average person would be too grossed out.
The alternative to mass cultivation of livestock is actually lab-grown meat, which has been proven to work.

>The alternative to mass cultivation of livestock is actually lab-grown meat, which has been proven to work.
Yeah, though less for environmental reasons and more that even people who eat meat realize it'd be better if we could find a way to get meat without having to kill for it.

I see the same threads on /pol/ and haven't really encountered it outside of 4chan. I think they're just trying to make it a bigger deal than it really is so people might start thinking "if you vote dems they'll make you eat bugs".

Nope

It's the truth regardless, like a month ago the candidates were pushing against meat consumption.
