After a nuclear blast in your vicinity, paint a three inch by three inch square on your belly with betadine. Repeat this daily until you escape the fallout zone. Children younger than 13 should have a smaller two inch by two inch square painted on their lower back each day during this time. This will be adequate to get a blocking dose of iodine to your thyroid via your dermis.

Be prepared and stay safe especially when the missiles are raining down.

If you eat any kind of tree nut or seafood in a month or so, you are getting your needed iodine
iodized salt is for flyovers who can't into seafood, and iodine deficieny is pretty harmless overall compared to scurvy or rickets

idk, I usually have half a teaspoon of dulse, and I can't add it to anything because there's so much grit I need to carefully separate out while chewing very gently. I should just get some pills.

That doesn't mean it should be avoided when avoiding it is super fucking easy. What ridiculous logic, "well this colon cancer isn't as bad as pancreatic cancer so might as well not treat it"

Also they ship seafood to flyover land, its not at all rare, it is still recommended that people use iodized salt, which is in fact one of the greatest public health inventions ever, and its a shame that some of the third world still doesn't use it

That's kind of the point. You only need like two cents worth of iodine per tonne of salt for the purposes of preventing goiter.

This. Goiters are unsightly and cannot be fun for the sufferer either.

Go ahead then faggot, take a whole gram, see what happens.

Some chemicals we actually only need an extremely small amount of in our body. Don’t be a fucking retard, reliable medical information on the dietary needs of iodine exist.

Every time I post without a tripcode, some galaxy brain assumes following posts are from me, and I will not have my words misrepresented.

You should try to dig up primary sources for anything about nutrition. You'll find the actual data to be very consistent without some quota-pressured spinning it to be about men biting dogs.

This was my first thought, around 120mg for adults but not for more than a month and it only protects against certain shit. I mean it really only protects your thyroid, this isn't Fallout 3.
