If you're only cooking rice rarely or just for yourself, just get a large microwave safe plastic pot. I got one for about $3 AUD. Those sistema red ones are good, then put in say, a cup of rice, and then 2.5 cups of water, microwave for 9 minutes, stir, then another 2 minutes.

I recently bought a rice cooker as they were on offer but it was still a really cheap model in the first place. I was less worried about stove space but thought if I'm making say a curry then If the rice is done and kept warm then I can plate up, do naan bread, make poppadoms or whatever. The problem is that if I leave the rice cooker on warm it over cooks the rice. Is this because the rice cooker is shit or something else? If it's the rice cooker being shit I'll just go back to using a saucepan
