vegans start off with good intentions but it's not the optimal diet, so they usually don't keep it up long-term or become more fanatic to try and not admit the issues. supporting lab-grown meat will do more to reduce violence and help animals.

This. So much fucking THIS. If you want to be a real vegan, learn that humans can't eat meat. Like it just rots inside your body. Forget that we metabolize it efficiently and have to take a mountain of pills to be almost healthy without meat in our diet. Humans have been processing mountains of plant matter into pills from the dawn of time. At some point a confused human ate a deer or something and realized they could skip the traditional syringe of vitamins in the ass/fistful of supplements and actually be healthier and it's all a whacky misunderstanding or some shit. Now honor your ancestors and choke down a fistful of pills with a tall glass of xenoestrogen-rich processed shit, eating meat is unnatural and unhealthy.

all memeing aside, shouldnt it be possible for a person to eat an all plant based diet and still be strong? is it really hard to do or impossible? is there something in animal fat thats impossible to get from plants? if I had to venture a guess, id say its possible to be just as strong, but youd have to be such a 1337 nutitionist and scientist to figure out how to force your body to produce all the hormones and processes it does normally from eating animal fats and proteins just from plants and maybe a regime of drugs. Is using a drug not vegan if they tested it on animals?
thats what my autism cant handle about vegans. there are all these rules they themselves get to pick, choose and bend depending on their mood. Ive always said if you live an urban life, especially in a 1st world country, its impossible for you to be a "real" vegan. I really dont get it.

Eating meat still wouldn't be wrong then. It would be morally superior to eating lab-grown meat just like it's morally superior to veganism right now.

When you have the choice to enable life for an animal, a life that's worth living, and you choose not to because you can't cope with the fact this animal has to die eventually then you are being selfish and don't actually care about the animal. All you care about is yourself, your own state of mind that you don't want to stress with "evil", even if it's necessary evil and something good precedes it.

Vegans remind me of these dumbass pro-choice feminists who argue that "you can't put babies in this horrible world" while they are in the top 0.1% of humans that have ever lived when it comes to quality of life.

Most of the animals currently bred for food don't have that, in my opinion. And it's not like livestock animals will go extinct with lab-grown meat, we'll still want to keep them for other reasons, just in smaller numbers but their average quality of life will remain higher. They might even start being bred smaller to become household pets like dogs, not entirely sure about that one, but they won't go extinct or stop being bred altogether.

The problem with lab-grown meat is that it's going to be deficient in nutrients compared to real meat. As of right now, we eat meat from animals that eat a nutritious diet and their metabolism makes them absorb those nutrients into their bodies i.e. cows eat grass, that grass get's fermented in their stomach to create b-vitamines, which are then absorbed by the body. There is no way to recreate these processes in a lab. You could probably soak the meat in synthetic nutrients or genetically modify the meat but how healthy would that be?

I guess the point is that we don't know the consequences of the mass push for reduced meat consumption, it's really just a pretty unethical population-wide experiment, and a lot of the modern health issues we are seeing can probably be attributed to the garbage that our children and pregnant women are being fed.

Right now it doesn't have the fat or iron of real meat, and some of the companies are trying to spin it as a positive thing and say it's healthier. It'll be possible to get the nutrition to be the same, just need to have enough people demand it and not buy into their marketing twist.
