How can people eat cilantro/coriander? It literally tastes like soap. Why would someone want to ruin a great dish with herbs that taste like soap?

I thought it tasted like soap when I was a kid. Then I realized it was going to be in a lot of foods I wanted to eat, particularly Asian and Mexican foods. So I just got used to the taste over time. As much as people claim the soap taste is genetic I think it's psychological. I got over it and love the stuff now.

I noticed cilantro soap people have very simple food desires. My dad doesnt like cilantro. He loves food, but i gotta admit his tastes arent exactly sharp. His palates not complex. He likes his hash browns, he likes his bacon. He knows spaghetti needs to be al dente. But he couldnt care less about homemade pasta sauce or ragu.
