What's the problem? You should probably refrigerate most things after opening, especially if sugar is an active ingredient.

No sugar makes things rot much faster unless it's pure honey.

growing up i thought ketchup was something you put on food that was too hot.

I have a big fridge and a serious shortage of cupboards. Only keeping stuff that would be hurt by refrigeration in the cupboard. Flour? Fridge. Baking powder? Fridge. Honey? Fridge. Jam? Fridge. It's an okay cupboard except also keeps stuff cold.

So what's the problem with refrigerating it? I'm at a loss here. BBQ sauce and ketchup need to be refrigerated while plain white vinegar and other unsweetened vinegars don't need to be refrigerated.

Sugar absorbes moisture, slows down bacteria growth

>> No.12677358

>>12677238
Only apply for really high concentration of sugar, ie raw pure honey. Sugar being only a relatively small part of the ingredient ends up attracting more bacteria.
