If you get hot dogs from a butcher shop they're 100 times better than the packaged stuff. I was doing a bbq thing for a promotional event and I got these dogs and they were sublime. Many people shied away from them because they looked weird (they were all uniform sizes and shapes. The tips were pointed instead of round and some were fatter/thinner in certain spots etc) which kinda pissed me off about how pleb these people were.

Hotdogs are decent enough. No different than a bologna sandwich really.
I prefer a natural casing so you can get that satisfying snap, but it's not necessary for nicely charred grill dogs.
Also I always put dill relish on them, no need for sweet relish or ketchup
