Not sure where you’re from, but in the US it’s normal to have a small stove and fridge at the workplace to cook burgers etc. people bring their own meat, buns etc, and share things like condiments. Some larger offices have deep fryers but that’s relatively rare in my experience. Many people cook burgers as snacks throughout the day, but usually in the afternoon after lunch but before dinner.

Not sure where you worked but I see them all the time. I’ve worked in warehouses and small offices and they almost always had a small burger cooking stand. I’ve mostly been in the mid west or east coast though maybe it’s different on the west coast.
