We still work 35 hours. I mean some work 39, but it's overtime, the base legal amount of hours is still 35.

Also we're getting 5 weeks of vacation, and we don't even have to get a third mortgage on the house when we break a leg.

The rich don't want to pay taxes so governments can't afford age pensions (which are typically much higher than unemployment pensions), so they just keep pushing back the age people can get a pension because "people are living longer" in order to save the difference between the unemployment pension and the age pension.
They know that people who lose their job in their 60's have almost zero chance of regaining employment, but they don't care.
No, this isn't a "da jooz" thing, it's a billionaires & megacorps thing, assisted by right wing politicans who all come from wealthy backgrounds that don't need age pensions so have no qualms upping the retirement age.

I have no idea where you guys see that.
I start at 9 after 1h20 of transportation.
Lunch break is 1hour, better have your lunchbox or you'll need 10 minutes to go to some restaurant, order, wait for your order, eat, and 10 minutes back to work.
Finish work at 6pm (when not going overtime) and 1h30/2h transportation back to home during rush hour. And if you have to go buy groceries, supermarket closes at 7pm.

When I was in the states I found that Americans jobs are their lives and they base everything around their work. Like they wont even go and have a drink at lunch or even the night before a workday. Poor corporate slaves needed to have a 2 litre thermos so they wouldnt have to waste time going to a coffee station, had protein powders instead of lunch so they wouldnt waste time eating etc.

I wouldnt call these people dumb with the work we were doing, it was like they put their heart and soul into the contract and nose to the grindstone 40, 50 sometimes 60 hours a week like an addict playing video games. Then theyd head on home with a smile like 12 hours of the day wasnt just lost to whatever tasking they had that day.
