A $20 grinder, some whole beans(I like the dunkin donuts brand) and a regular ole coffee pot will net you top of the line results every time. Grinding your own beans does provide better flavor and that's just objective fact, but needing all that expensive shit is definitely a meme

There are a number of things to control first before you declare yourself duped by hipsters. That said, I've found that you get diminishing returns after spending more than $10/lb.
