What is the best pepper and why is it the faithful cayenne?

>> No.12529017

I don't think I've ever seen a fresh cayenne pepper for sale.

I like Thai chilies for my every day. Disregard the pic.

Ghost pepper because you can use it to find out if your friends and family are bitch made or not.

ghost peppers are just jalapenos that last for 20 minutes instead of 20 seconds

Check out farmer's markets. The season varies with a sliding window starting maybe late Septemer and going from there for a month or two, until it starts getting cold. It's difficult to say when farmers markets will have these and other hot peppers, it really depends upon the season. It might even start in late October and then run until the stock is out.

Successfuly germinated and sprouted chocolate habaneros indoors after a long time of not growing anything, what should I do now? I'm keeping them in a small-ish pot behind the window, water them when soil starts to get dry and spritz them with water twice a day

>> No.12530207

In order

1. Bird's eye
2. Cayenne
3. Chipotle
4. Jalapeno / Fresno
5. Serrano
6. Guajillo
7. Arbol
8. Habanero
9. Pasilla
10. Guajillo

>> No.12530213

>>12530207

Guijillo made it on there twice. Replace 10 with Poblano for good mention. Only because it's good with cheese.

Does fresh cayenne have better flavor than dried and cheap hot sauces?

>> No.12531350

You should have started them like 5 months ago home slice

jalapeno. nice flavour and genuinely not too hot at all. if you want more power add powdered mad pepper, i add a couple of pinches of trinidad scorpion powder, which is like 500,000 - 1,500,000 on the scoville scale iirc. more power but still primarily nice jalapeno flavour.

I'm growing a plant this season. Can't wait to harvest.

Not that into cayenne. I like habanero but it's probably a very personal thing.

Birds eye are my go to. Scotch Bonnets are the only pepper I can get at my local supermarket that're hotter - but they're too sweet / distinctly jamaican for most things I like to cook.
