Why have I come to develop a strong distaste for meats?
I used to eat all manner of it religiously, I'd have it in some form with most of my meals, but now everything seems really fucking nasty no matter if it's cooked right or not, it still makes me feel nauseous as hell

meat is rank, I agree. but I still eat sometimes.
I don't eat fast food/restaurant food so all meat I get I have to cook, and it's kinda gross raw and the cooking process is inconvenient compared to non-meat food.

I went through a period of disliking meat. I ate it with every meal like I'd been programmed to since childhood. I'd space out a little when shopping, always the same things, always the same packets. Pork, chicken, some cheaper beef, rarely lamb. I started to feel part of a production line of death, my cooking defined by the same 4-5 packets purchased each week. Stuck in a cycle, not enjoying my consumption. If anything it highlighted my low income status.

I also started to notice a declining quality in what I was buying? I don't know if it had been happening for a while or if cheaper ranges landed on the shelves and I should have been choosing to pay a little more. But the general vibe is like ... here you poor fucker ... take your poverty meat choices ... it is full of water and the chickens all have broken bones in them and weird clots and bruises, but if you want to eat meat every single day this is all you can afford. Don't even look at the lamb or anything but the lowest quality beef peasant. Go make your one pot slop.

I went vegetarian for a year? I didn't feel good. I felt tired. Weak. I enjoyed being out of my comfort zone with cooking and having to think differently, but I felt like shit and readily gained weight.

I now eat meat again, but not every meal and not every day. I buy comparatively much more expensive meat, but make it the focus of a much more simple meal. I eat a lot more simply now to be honest, a lot less as well. Higher quality ingredients, prepared quite simply. Also booze.

Steak, smoked salt, pepper, butter, couple of mushrooms, sautéd cavolo nero, a vine tomato, piece of toasted rye bread, half a bottle of red wine. I'm done. Don't eat breakfast. Usually eat fruit, yoghurt, sometimes a sandwich for lunch.

so much for the claim that sugar makes you fat.

Also was going to say this is probably how we should be and societally this is likely how meat consumption is going to go. Eating low quality industrially farmed meat for every meal is bad for us, the environment and animals. I don't think we've lived like that at any other point in history and I believe it is entirely a creation of advertising and the last 20-30 years.

I'm happier eating less meat, but having it be of a higher standard. I hope this extra cost trickles down into better conditions for the environment and the animals. Also while what I used to cook was often delicious, it comes from when I lived as part of a bigger family and my parents were looking to stretch ingredients and simplify cooking for a family.

You don't really need to cook or eat like that when it is just you and your girlfriend or something. Oh I'm going to make a massive industrial vat of chilli, pasta sauce, pork fried rice, curry, stew, rando chinese dish with pork or chicken etc. That was my mindset.

Two poached eggs. Shaving of italian hard cheese, some mixed garden salad leaves, rocket, spicy mustard greens, spinach, piece of sour dough, salted butter, few stalks of asparagus, maybe a slice of smoked salmon, lemon wedge. Big ass glass of pinot grigio. I'm fucking done.

What are you on about? I made two posts where I described going vegetarian for a year, feeling worse and going back to eating meat, but in a way that helps partially avoid the quality issues that put me off eating what was most likely too much low quality meat in the first place. You are allowed to have issues with intensive industrial meat production while still being a meat eater dude.

Yes you are allowed to do that. I would prefer however that you just starve yourself to death quietly and don't tell us about it.

When are people going to understand that you shouldn't consume so much meat?

Go plant-based. Vegan is retarded, nothing unethical about eating animals since it's part of nature.

You can still eat meat, but buy it from the right place instead of factory farms if you plan to do so. And eat less of it, you don't need meat everyday. It's not a requirement to be of perfect health and physical wellbeing. Look at the massive amount of bodybuilders and sports enthusiasts who are plant-based.
