What is wrong with these Americans visiting Europe?

Me and my girlfriend were eating yesterday at a great Asian Fusion restaurant in the Netherlands where there is no normal menu, but a multiple course menu selected by the single chef that is cooking alone for a few tables. It all dependent on what ingredients he can get freshly, and what he likes to cook that day.

After a while some obnoxiously loud and rude American women steps in and it's already pretty late. The last costumers are almost leaving and the chef finished making the last courses.

At this point the American women feels personally attacked and repeats 'OK TOMATO SOUP' in a condescending manner and leaves the restaurant slamming the door shut screaming an insincere "OK THANK YOU".

The restaurant bursts into laughter.

Is this normal in America, that instead of asking what they serve, you just ask if they have a particular dish like it's bingo?

And Jesus, act the fuck normal. No reason to loudly storm in a small restaurant and demand the menu card without even saying hello.

Furthermore as a tip, try to adapt coming to here. Your American standards might be absolutely abnormal here, you will be laughed at and look like an absolute prick.

When asking the owner, they had an American group before already who couldn't deal at all with the fact that they weren't allowed to choose and all had different wishes. You're not a fucking diner.

I really love working with food. I explored other options and careers and had more than one teacher at university encourage me to continue in their department but they're all soul sucking. And I don't really want more money I just want a better culture and society and Americans for the most part seem genuinely oblivious to how intrinsic food culture is to societal health.

More like I've seen fucking EVERYTHING, since I worked in the service industry (restaurants hotels, and retail) for years. I've dealt with assholes from every country. Americans aren't any worse when traveling abroad than people from other countries, except for the fact that Americans are too loud, and that is very true.

This explains your whole story. That was some hungry person trying to figure out if they were able to eat there on their strange diet. Traveling as a vegetarian is pretty hard to accomplish without planning and some kind of knowledge of the menu choices ahead of time. If it was late, they were definitely overly hungry. And, they might have been hoping for a soup filled with vegetables, but got something that is typically a chicken stock base, or else creamy and basil. Vegetarians are kind of crazy anyway. It wasn't an American issue, or that much of a tourist issue, just a hungry vegetarian issue.
Vegetarians have shitty options in the US outside of NY, DC, and West Coast. They have to work hard or else they do try to eat at Indian or Chinese and go with veggie menu items, and rice.
