No, seriously, watch his UK shows that have the same premise (go to a shop that's shit and helps them fix it.) Completely different person, super respectful even when something distresses him, makes jokes once and a while to drive home a point. Genuinely wants to help the shop keeper best as he can while keeping their dignity intact.

Basically the producers of American shows try to create as much drama as possible because Americans are too fucking stupid to watch something for educational or mild entertainment. If he isn't screaming or making a huge deal out of everything people won't watch.
