Have any of you guys had this shit? Its a bourbon aged "oyster stout".

Normally I wouldnt try a meme sounding beer like this, but I love everything Nola puts out.

Shit was surprisingly good, oyster taste was light and mostly on the aftertaste. Other than that it was basically a saltier bourbon stout.

For awhile, all we got from nola was irish channel and even then only in limited quantities at certain stores.

Over the last couple months theyve blown up in the area. Any place with craft beers has them, even small places. This place I go to with only 5 fridges has a whole row dedicated to nola, something like 8 different beers.

If you can find Parish brewing (they're shipping to TX now) they're also good, Ghost In The Machine is probably one of Louisiana's best DIPAs

It may be that my palate has changed, but I swear on everything New Belgium used to be better. Voodoo Ranger is their imperial IPA which used to be called Rampant, an imperialized version of Ranger. Now I can't trust what's going on, because I remember Rampant being much, much better than Voodoo Ranger. Maybe it's just me, but New Belgium used to taste like Christmas, but now it's all really unremarkable and lacking in something I can't really put my finger on.

Probably just my palate or else a placebo from the label/name changes.

Obsius is odd. I didn't like the stout grainbill / wheat beer yeast combo the first one I had. The second went down after clearing 2.5 foot snow drifts out of the duck yard by hand, and tasted like ambrosia. I keep it on hand in the winter now.
If you like Tweiss, try the dunkle-weiss as well.

That just sounds like poor quality control on the brewer's part. Some of the more acidic styles, like flemish oud bruins, can cause some acid reflux problems if you drink too much of them, but a wild fermentation batch is (or should be) pretty rigorously tested to find out its microbial profile and make sure that nothing harmful makes it to the consumer.

Honestly, it's so common for these types of ales to be unfiltered that I'd find it pretty typical. The almanac sour I posted earlier is a very light-colored beer (Maybe SRM 4 if I had to guess) but it's still pretty much opaque. It's pretty normal to find yeast and bacterial "mud" at the bottom of bottles and cans.

But I would urge you to give wild fermentation a second go, masybe try some brewers that really specialize in it, like Jolly Pumpkin or Prairie.

The most obvious one is to ask the clerk at the bottle shop for recommendations on wild ales, and specify that you aren't interested in kettle sours. You could also just seek out brewers that almost exclusively do wild-type fermentations. It's more common than you think, due to the hard-to-control nature of the process. third, there are some styles that are defined by their wild fermentations, the most obvious example being belgian lambics.

I think you're misunderstanding. Nobody is saying the founders BA stouts are bad beers; they deserve a lot of the praise they get. It's just that most areas of the US now have bourbon barrel stouts being distributed by incredibly skilled brewers, many of which exceed CBS and KBS in quality. That doesn't diminish the deliciousness of those stouts. If anything, they paved the way for what we can get now, so most people view Founders brewing with a fair degree of respect.

I think the one I tried is a 2016. Honestly it's a 3.5 at best. I'm not a huge fan of boozy beer when you can feel too much sweetness, but I've had imperial stout that tasted way better. Geez 211 out of the 40 oz bottle is pretty bad, I've been drinking it out of the tallboy can and enjoying it, but the 40 is just terrible. I now understand what everyone was saying about it tasting like paint thinner. In the can it's just a good strong beer flavor, but idk if the plastic leeches in or whatever. For some reason, no one actually cares enough to make getting rid of the Liquor Control Board a major political issue, perhaps because of some retarded, latent and lingering perception that anyone that does wants minors to drink or supports alcoholism or whatever other nonsense was originally used as the justification for its existence.

The Ford government took the relatively "radical" step of letting it be sold in grocery stores, but only in a limited number set by the government - they approve of each one, which means outside of major population centres, it's still not a thing. If you want beer in Ontario, you can go to the more conveniently-located "Beer Store"s, the InBev front that plugs their own pisswater excuses for beer; or, if you want anything that isn't piss, you go out of your way to find the Control Board's own liquor stores, where the selection is always limited by having to share the store space with literally every other kind of alcohol that exists. Again, outside of major population centres, these stores are small and thus you basically get no selection.
