There is nothing more baffling to me than the fact that Americans think oats have to be cooked. Out of all the stupid shit Americans do and believe, from creationism to keto, from imperial measurements to loving Israel, nothing captures the nature and extent of American stupidity quite as well as their near pathological desire to cook something that is already cooked and could even be eaten straight out of the bag.

Muesli isn't made with cooked oats, and many people here eat that regularly. Uncooked oats are used in lots of toppings for all kinds of things. Oatmeal is specifically a bowl of cooked oats. That doesn't mean that we only eat oatmeal. Oats are used both cooked and uncooked in many applications.
