Between Nissan and Mauchan, I would definately go for Maruchan, and this despite being raised on Nissan.
I even like some of the other Maruchan products like the Yakisoba.

That said, I ran into Nongshim by accident at Walmart, accident because it’s kept in a special Asian section rather than the ramen/cup soup/soup section, and the flavor and texture are far better than Nissan or Maruchan. Sadly, instead of costing $0.26 per soup, like the Maruchan cup soups, the Nongshim are closer to $0.80 or $0.90 each, or more for some flavors. Still affordable, and definately worth the price, but I still keep Maruchan in the cupboard and intersperse it with the Nongshim.

I also find boiling the water with frozen seafood, or thinly slived cooked beef, and then using this with the Ramen helps improve the flavor.
If I’m broke I pour a bit of some garlic infused oil and a flick or two of tabasco sauce on the cup of noodles before pouring the hot water in. It helps with the flavour.

just add in an egg, scallions, rice cakes, frozen dumplings, onions, beansprouts, canned tuna, slice of cheese. just dont add all thsoe at once. usually a meat/veg and scallions is good enough. i add a ton of bean sprouts when im hungover because it makes the soup taste a lot cleaner
