tea is about the only thing I'd get there. Their coffee is disgusting, if I drank their mixed drinks I'd get sick from all the sugar - you have to work up to drinking 40grams of sugar in a sitting, and their food is downright disgusting.

the common american family. All consuming 800 calorie milkshakes while browsing facebook on their apple devices. they barely use the computers for anything else but they spent $3000 on them anyways because that is what they are conditioned to do. they were able to "afford" it with the 12 mo. interest free credit card promo. None of them look healthy, all pudgy, red, and inflamed from the carb, fat, and salt overload at olive garden last night. After this outing at starbucks they will return home in their leased hyundai crossover to their particle board townhouse in a gated community where they will essentially do the same thing they were doing at starbucks, consume media on their devices. They maintain this mediocre level of content while their problems pile up in the back of their mind.

Unfortunately, you can't. I'm not saying that he'll always be like this. But there's no single particular thing you can tell him that'll change him. It can only happen over a long time. Then, one day, he'll be hit with the realisation he was primed for. It won't be pleasant, and it could easily destroy him and/or his family. A lot of so-called mid-life crises come from realisations like this.
