Used to work at a local chicken restaurant (fast food obviously). One time a buddy of mine was breading the chicken breasts and he snuck a hotdog out of the hotdog cooker and stuffed it inside one of the breasts. It ended up getting served that day. The boss wasn't happy at all when the customer came and complained but he never put his foot down about anything so we all just laughed our asses off about it. Still funny to this day.

waiters and waitresses should just work in fast food honestly. Guaranteed $8~10 an hour for 30+ hours a week is better than making $70 in tips one day and then $10 the next. Hell most wait staff make most of their money in 1 or 2 days in a week, so just work fast food every other day. The system and status quo overall regarding being a waiter/waitress won't change in our lifetimes no matter what anybody does, but instead of getting a definitively better paying job, after they realize the local boss and/or corporate won't budge, then it boils down to beInG tHE CuStOMeR's fAuLt that they don't get paid worth a shit. Just once. I used to deliver pizza in a very small town with a massive delivery radius, and there was this black guy who lived on the edge of our radius, like a 15 mile round trip. He ordered two or three times a week, and he never tipped, not even a buck or two, and I'm talking $50+ orders.

Usually I'd just take his pizzas out of the hot bag so they'd be cold by the time I got there, but one night he caught me in a particularly bad mood, so I pulled over on the way to his house, dragged my whole palm across my greasy taint and asshole, and rubbed it all over every single one of his pizzas.

Gotta remember that when it comes to food delivery. They have your food in their own car. No one can see what they do to it. And I promise you, you won't taste the greasy taint, and you won't taste the norovirus either.

She told me she refused to pay for the pizza so I told her I would take it back to the store. She called my manager while I stood there, and he told her she would either pay for the pizza or not get it. It was $13.87 total. She gave me $14 and demanded her thirteen cents change, but I informed her that delivery drivers don't carry coin change (we don't), and if she wanted to pay in exact change she would have to find the coins because I didn't have thirteen cents to give her. She walked away grumbling back into her house to go find exact change to avoid giving me a single penny, so I shook the pizza as hard as I could while I stood there waiting on her doorstep. I turned it upside down and sideways and shook it so hard I could feel the entire pizza become one mass on one side of the box. Then she gave me her exact change, I gave her her pizza milkshake and I left.

She called later to complain and my manager was so sick of her shit, cussing at and insulting everyone, that he told her he didn't believe her and put her address and phone number on the Do Not Deliver list.

Ok, so here it is. I was 22 I think and worked at Krystal's overnight. Always on weekends so always get the drunk orders. Yes, I spit on burgers a rare few times. Never seen it personally as in deliberate intention to fuck with someone. It's usually incompetence that's the worst you should worry about. What I have seen:

>passive-aggressive shit like taking a long ass time to complete order, making sure food takes longer/is cold when it arrives
>fried item with incredibly long cook times dropped on floor during rush, then 5 second rule being strictly enforced by the literal management (dust it off and drop it in the fryer for a second!)
>dishes being put away wet, then the trapped moisture being served over (probably sterile but still)
>oil that isn't changed far longer than is advisable
>unemptied grease traps
Some of the stuff that just happens in poorly managed kitchens (read: many kitchens) is much more worrisome than encountering deliberate tampering. Think about it: the wait person, if good at their job and a sane human, will want to still do their best to get a good tip. They'll always be apologetic about the food, and are usually pretty willing to please if they wanna keep their job. The back of house might get annoyed if you keep sending back perfectly good food or outright insult them to their face, but they rarely will get pissed off in a way

So in short, your odds of both having a sociopath/maniac cooking your food, and also pissing that person off badly enough that they'll risk their job over gaining some minor sense of revenge, are fairly slim if you avoid them. Your odds of that same person murdering you in a road rage incident are comparable, and THAT'S something to actually worry about. Drive defensively, people.

The restaurant I worked at was a small one.
We never fucked with people's food intentionally.
We would just refuse service to people who were assholes.
If someone came in and started talking some shit to our cashier, the cook would walk up to the register and tell them we will not serve them. Usually they would try to argue with the cook until he would roll up his sleeves and they would see the thrash metal tattoos all over his arms. Most tourists are sheltered pussies, you show them a bit of ink and they start thinking you are part of MS-13 or some shit they saw on the news.

Only one time we had a fight this dude threw a soda in the cooks face after he told them we weren't going to serve them. He was a small little guy so the cook just picked him up and carried him outside, gave him a kidney shot once outside and the dude hobbled away.

Tipping is nowhere near that convoluted. Tipping is only expected for restaurant/bar servers during sit-down meals and delivery drivers. Both are situations where you likely had foresight of what to expect and time to prepare. Tips can be put on credit/debit as well, so no need to have small bills readily available for a situation where you may be expected to tip. Also. delivery driver tips don't work like restaurant tips where the suggested tip is a % of the cost of the meal. Typically you base their tip on distance and punctuality. I tip $3-5 for any delivery and as a former delivery driver feel that it is fair.

You aren't required to tip anybody, anyway. Tips are expected, but not mandatory and you won't get in trouble for never tipping, though you will probably get called some nasty things and run the risk of employee food tampering if you frequently don't tip the same people over and over again. I don't mind tipping because i have a comfortable income and used to work in food service so understand the stresses of dealing with the general public. If you can't afford to tip or it's too inconvenient for you, by all means don't bother. If it we're me in that situation I'd probably write something like, "sorry, im broke :(" on the receipt or napkin, just to try to avoid cum sandwiches in future dining at the establishment.
