It kinda reminds me of nutri-loaf nightmare prison food, but seeing as the main ingredient is peanuts it's clearly gonna be high calorie, healthy and won't taste that bad, so i don't really see the problem.

Americans are strange people.
I was eating only vegetables after dhe sas diagnosed with cancer. I boiled potates and made salads from fresh row vegetables like onion, tomato and cucamber.
How can people eat this over processed caca and claim its somehow healthy?
Want to be vegetarian eat vegetables, eat nuts, eat cheese.
Most foods i read about here i cant even properly pronance in english. Shame it is like this

I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but this happened to me when I stopped over-seasoning my food and ate it just lightly salted.
The food I ate went from tasteless to delicious after a few weeks of doing this. Meats tasted better, vegetables and fruit tasted much better. Even oatmeal with a just splash of milk became a flavorful dish.

I've tried this stuff. You can roll it into "meatballs" and put it in a nice spaghetti sauce or whatever. But the flavour is not very good and is hard to cover up

>>11851143
They do this just with these highly processed foods because calling them what they are would probably put people off. Plenty of normal stuff you could use instead like paneer (well I suppose vegan doesn't eat this) tofu, beans etc

When you change your diet everything tastes wrong at first because it's not what you're used to. If you're used to relying on animal fat (or lots of salt) for flavor doing without means everything will taste like cardboard at first. But after three weeks you adjust to the change in diet and the food that tasted like cardboard last week suddenly tastes great.

I don't think it's a physical thing. Your tastebuds don't literally reset. It's psychological. When you're no longer expecting flavor to come from animal fat (or a ton of salt) you can start to actually enjoy food that doesn't have it. It just takes about three weeks of not having it for your brain to stop expecting it.

Food tastes great after a period of starving yourself of certain things. I was in the military eating ration pack for a month at a time and any fresh food you get your hands on after that is amazing. Maybe vegans experience something like this if they try living mostly off canned blended nuts

their bodies give up on the pursuit of animal fats and sugars, because no normal sane person would willingly not consume them so it isnt worth it to their brain to have cravings

Your taste buds do not reset. They still taste the same flavours as before. You are just denying yourself animal meat and therefore have to find it elsewhere as your body needs it. That is why all vegans eat loads of tofu and beans. And what the hell has salt got to do with being a vegan?

It's not like a switch gets flipped but they can become more or less sensitive. It's why people give up soda for a while, and then when they try it again, they say it's too sweet and they don't know how they were able to drink so much before.

Your link doesn't even work but that argument is bullshit. Raising an animal for consumption requires far more intensive agriculture than simply consuming plants because you have to feed the animals.

>> No.11854980

>>11854803
You can feed the animals inedible crops that grow in poor soil and keep the animals in barren fields that support little to no plantlife.

>> No.11855011

>>11854803
You may find it hard to believe, but farm animals are more than capable of eating grass and seeds and roots and shit lying around, that doesnt require anything resembling intensive agriculture. Its only in the last few weeks before slaughter that cows are given corn and grain to fatten them up, and give them some happy memories.

>> No.11855012

>>11854803
>Raising an animal for consumption requires far more intensive agriculture than simply consuming plants
Nonsense. The amount of effort required to raise an animal is not constant. It can range from highly intensive to requiring nearly nothing at all.

My family owns several acres they lease out to ranchers to keep cows and goats on. They don't have to do anything to "feed" the cows. They just eat the grass and plants which grow there naturally.

Of course if you try and raise a ton of cows on a small bit of land then yeah, that takes extra effort. But don't pretend this is one-size-fits-all.

>>11854980
A properly set up farm doesn't even require growing crops specifically for animals. Rather, they eat the byproducts of the farm. E.g. you grow corn, the corn gets eaten, and the inedible (to humans) part of the corn plant becomes silage for the animals.

So people know what it's the vegan/vegetarian version of? Just because someone has to eat this way doesn't always mean they hate bacon or meat or the way it tastes. Some give it up for animal welfare but want a replacement. That's like saying a gluten free adult hates pizza and wants no association with the pizza because of gluten.

It’s also based on faulty statistics. Pastures get foraged and most grass fed cows at one point or another finish on grain, the land use is massive as well.
