Bluepill me on air fryers. I've been obsessed with reading about them and will be going out in about 6 hours to buy one.

>> No.11815017

It's good if you want to make fryish meals eadily. The machine itself is pretty big and the amount cooked is small it won't replace a regular deep fryer, so if you find it worthwhile depends on how you tend to cook.

>> No.11815020

Easy chicken wings and makes any frozen food actually resemble food compared to microwaving or oven baking. Cleanup is not as bad as people make it out to be either, just hand wash and spray it down with Pam spray afterwards, takes like 120 seconds.

That said, anyone buying it thinking that it will magically make junk food like french fries "healthier" is an idiot. The only calorie difference between foods cooked with this and with a deep fryer is the lack of extra breading and some residual grease.

How is this any different to using an oven? I don't understand.

>> No.11815107

I gained 20 lbs within 6 months of buying one. They are so easy to use that fries and tots become a side item for every meal. Tendies become a dinner staple.

Think before you buy.

It's basically a specialized convection oven that's marketed to people who don't know what convection ovens are. They call it an "air fryer" so idiots understand how it can be used.

But yeah, it fundamentally is just a convection oven with a "basket" that makes it more convenient for fries and less convenient for anything else. It would make far more sense to buy a convection toaster oven, ideally a Breville smart oven. that can do everything the air fryer can plus a whole lot more.

It's very different from a normal oven because it has a convection fan. If you don't know what that is then just google "convection oven"

The basket's also really good for turkey heh

It's ok. I got one as a Christmas gift. I probably wouldn't buy one at full price since it feels kind of cheap.
Not necessary but frees up oven space for a side dish. I have baking sheets and roasting pans that don't fit side by side in my oven so it's useful for that.
A countertop deep fryer would take up just as much real estate, imo so don't get one under that pretense.
Air fryer is good if you like to make low cal "fried" foods without breaking out a vat of fucking oil.
I have no idea how they're marketed since I don't watch tv or follow popular food bloggers/vloggers but I imagine people shill the fuck out of them.
I haven't managed to cook a good batch of fries yet but have made chicken tendies, chicken parm, eggplant parm, scotch eggs all without fail. It's pretty fucking idiot proof.

The fries I've tried to cook were 100% homemade btw. I'm sure frozen fries would cook well since those are already pre-fried.

>> No.11815235

Pretty based. Got it for Christmas and have pretty much been making all my meals with it. You don't have to be a fat fuck about it. You can basically cook anything in the thing.

I rotate through pork chops, chicken breasts/thighs and hamburgers. I've only used it for some fried garbage once and even then it was sweet potato fries.

Try sweat potatoes when you buy it. Wash and put 3~4 sweat potatoes on 200•c for 25 min. Take it out, cut it in half, and put some butter on yellow inside. I learned this shit on japan and its easily one of the best you could make from it.
