where do people get this nonsensical idea from? 95% of Indian curries are cooked with fucking ghee. There's dairy in nearly every single one.

dude indians eat very very little meat
the idea of 'indian food' that you'd get from eating 'indian food' outside of india, is that it's a collection of meat curries with rice and naan

But that's generally not what indian people eat. That's a lie.

The true genius of Indian cuisine is that they actually manage to bring real flavor to meals without relying on meat. In the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown episode where he goes to the Punjab, he says that India is the only place where he's happy to not eat meat, and doesn't even think about it. Because the food is so delicious regardless. And this is a guy who shits on vegetarians generally.

So IF there's one difference between british indian food, and indian food, it's got to be the usage of meat.
Hell, I don't live in Britain, and i've got made respect for Indian food, but I still find it hard to pay for a paneer curry, or daal, or anything without meat. It's just hardwired into me that indian curries have meat and really that's a total lie.

Chicken Tikka Masala is cooked in a tandoor, it's got the spices, it's got the yogourt, it's ostensibly legit, the part that isn't legit is not the spice level, because they have mild shit in indian a LOT. It's the meat. That's just not that common.

>> No.11791176

by the way, the Parts Unknown episode in the Punjab is fascinating. It's s03e01. They're all widely available on rarbg etc probably amazon or some shit iunno

>dude indians eat very very little meat
Yes. But they do eat a lot of DAIRY which a lot of people from the west seem to miss.

There's some crazy meme among vegans that India is home to billions upon billions of vegans. somehow they translate "don't eat a lot of meat" into "don't eat ANY animal product of any kind". It's especially ridiculous when you think that the reason why the cow is a holy animal in the Hindu religion is because it provides sustenance in the form of dairy.

I agree completely that curries don't have to have meat in them. But it's absurd to think that most of india is walking around avoiding animal products when nearly every dish contains dairy.

>> No.11791188

>cows are sacred

lmao, this may be true on a technica level, so almost no regions butcher cows now, but the amount of starving, diseased cows roaming the streets of any Indian city is ridiculous

They may be sacred, but the people don't give a shit about them, would be better off dead and in a curry desu

Also it does make sense that v*gans would tip their hat to india because that's basically the best chance they've got of making their dogshit food palatable. Nothing infuriates me more than v*gans who eat a shitty diet of fast food and garbage. If they actually look to India, then they could still eat like kings, the dairy is a big part of it, but it's by no means fundamental, you can work around it, the spices and aromatics, garlic, onions, ginger, pulses, daal, thats the shit i'd be on if i for some reason HAD to be a v*gan retard.

>> No.11791208

>>11791199
I like the idea of quasi-wild animals cucking humans on the regular. Like bro just hold the car there's a cow there and they're basically a got, even if we don't really give a shit or look after her.

Didn't they also used to use the shit and stuff to thatch their houses for insulation or whatever as well? I like all that.

>> No.11791210

>>11791188
the reason why cows are sacred is because they provide food in the form of dairy.

Vegans think that India is some kind of fantasyland where there are no animal products consumed. In reality it's closer to the opposite: a cult of dairy.

Did you think by 'indian curries', i meant indian people?

1/3 of them being vegetarian is a lot and you don't have to be vegetarian to eat vegetable dishes. All of them eat a lot of daal (pulses, lentils etc), paneer, and other vegetable curries. But British indian food is almost exclusively meat dishes.

This website isn't a conversation with people but I guess a shut in underage faggot NEET would think this substitutes real socialization.
There threads that ask the same questions everyday, and it's just an excuse for people to get off on being the OP of a 200 reply thread for once.
Nobody is waiting to type out an in-depth response to everyone with a question here. Fucking, this thread gets deleted, the guy who responded finds the same question the next day, what does he do? Copy and paste his response each time?

And word of mouth is a game of telephone, no info is kept pure, it's always fucked because nobody can properly remember information. Why I told you to go to Reddit is because nothing gets deleted within reason and you'll find people typing out long shot with an incentive (albeit a fucking stupid one) so the quality of explanations are logically better over there. 4chan is fucking shit for anything other than funposting and shitposting and making retarded underage faggot weebs like yourself angry for being major pussies

Just had indian curry for the first time recently.
It's way more complex. If I were to compare it to japanese curry, I'd say the indian curry definitely had more interesting flavors. It was spicy, but not to the extent that it overpowers everything else. Japanese curry usually tastes savory with only 1 style flavor, but this indian is way more varied.
If you haven't tried indian food, definitely try it.
