I have never once see a person drink these. I've never seen them in stores, and I've never seen an advertisement for them. I'm honestly convinced at this point that their supposed popularity is a lie this board made up.
That said I would assume a person would drink them because they are (((allegedly))) trendy and would be an easy thing to drink if you were having a busy day and didn't want to stop for food.

i bought a case of the cafe coffiest one a while back. Its not bad, tasted like slightly off coffee milkshake. Again, not bad. It got me caffeinated and it worked decently well as a meal replacement for breakfast. For the price its not worth it and if what they say about soy giving you tits is true, just more reason to not get it. Overall the meme way over-hypes them. They're OK but not worth the price.

As a non-meme response here you go.

I started buying soylent I think in 2016, I'll normally buy 100ish bottles once or twice a year. I think the shit tastes great, like liquefied cheerios, which is the only cereal I enjoy. Its really nice when you need it. My normal job is a 12 hour shift of hard labor. During lunch I have 30 minutes and no microwave. Popping one or two of these feels much better for me than a shitty coldcut sandwich or the like. It does exactly what it says too: it makes you full and gives your body nutrients. I'm having a bunch of tooth work done these last few months and its also really great when I'm literally incapable of "eating" anything. As a complete food replacement I think its stupid, but its super convenient to have as an option. Can't really vouch for the various flavors, the rest all taste like shit to me.

The idea that phytoestrogens in soy act the same as hormonal estrogen in the body is just broscience that spreads because of le numale wojak. Actual studies into the effects of soy on testosterone levels in men have suffered from small sample sizes, and not yielded statistically significant evidence of a decrease in T from what a reasonable dietary intake of soya would be when repeated.
An article detailing some meta-analyses is available here if anyone's interested:

Soylent was actually found to have high levels of lead in it though, and they've been very dodgy about getting around legal requirements to notify consumers of it. Apparently they get their ingredients cheap as shit from China and have made no attempt to remedy the problem:

Check different products then. I was into bodybuilding about 15 years ago when I was in college. At least at that time the products which used Isolate certainly put it on the label since that was a major marketing point. If it doesn't say isolate then I would assume that it contains phytoestrogens.

I also recall that the various protein powders and "mass gainers" also came in egg, whey, or soy versions. For some reason I was allergic to the egg ones even though I can eat normal eggs without any problem. I looked for products which contained whey protein, not soy, and also looked for the word "isolate" rather than "concentrate" on the label.
