You should be getting at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, even if it's just a walk around the park, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, riding a bike instead of driving or just doing jumping jacks in your room.
Beyond that just eat sane portions of food, cut out stuff like candy and soda, limit stuff like alcohol and pasta to once a week. I lost 80lbs without a gym membership, meme dieting or starving myself. Don't hyper focus on losing weight at any cost, focus on building healthy long term habits and the weight loss will follow.

Weight loss is 90%+ what you eat. Exercising should be done to keep your body/heart healthy and fit, but it won't do much on the scale.

Literally this. Different diets may be more or less healthy, or more or less *efficient* for losing weight due to hormonal reason, and the optimal diet varies from person to person. But "in < out" is all that *really* matters. Doesn't matter where you're a vegan, keto, all carbs, whatever. Eat more than you use, you'll gain weight. Eat less than you use, you'll lose weight.

As far as exercise goes, it's definitely good for you and you should be doing it but it won't burn enough calories on its own to make you lose weight. Unless you're doing some *serious* workouts, it won't help you build a caloric deficit (and lose weight). It's all about eating less you fat fuck.

Oatmeal in the mornings
Fruits but not too much. Make sure to have your fibre.
Lean meats like fish and chicken.
Veggies brown rice brown pastas too. Just stay away from white processed carbs. Ritz white rice etc
You can treat yourself once a week but don’t go over board.
