Gotta realize that some stores have more exclusive special edition kind of things, and chain stores just don't want to modify shelves or buy items that aren't guaranteed to move fast and not end up in the bargain bin.
When you want fun holiday editions of your favorite things, rotate between Walgreens/CVS, Target, Wal-Mart and such during the holidays, and you'll soon discover, the crazy pumpkin spice cereal, or the hot chocolate peppermint poptarts, or the dreamy eggnog coffee, or the sugar cookie dough with baby christmas trees is going to be found in one place but not the other.
I totally start scoping out Aldi right around Thanksgiving to get the good german holiday gingerbread and 10lb marzipan filled stollen goodies that arrive. I've gotten oktoberfest pretzel dough in the can, filled old fashioned italian hard candies, mulled wine fruit juice and spice bitters by the jug for a punch bowl of deliciousness, or just by the glass, craft spiced apple soda. Know your favorites man and shop your circuit! It even pays to get the Costco membership and look at the extreme gifts you can buy there, tiers of tins of cookies from famous brand, monstrous Slim Jim containers, and 25lb bags of Starbucks holiday blend, if that's your thing.
