11565730 No.11565730 [Reply] [Original]

Why isn't Panda express appreciated here? It's better than all other fast foods that are shilled daily. My location is always fresh and has quick turnarounds.

>> No.11565736

Fast food is shit, anyone pretending otherwise on /ck/ is a shill or a shitposter. We don't need more of either of those, we need less.

Pass. I'll pay a couple of extra bucks and get a decent combo meal from any of half a dozen better Chinese joints in my small town.

I haven't been in at least a couple of years but for one reason or another I got dragged in there several times by co-workers or whatever girl I was with. I've tried most of what they put out and none of it was good. Even when the flavors were okay in a dish, some of the chicken would be cooked too much and the breading too hard, or the veggies would be undercooked, or the teriyaki chicken is too stringy/fatty.

Low quality ingredients + uncaring fast food cook = unsatisfying food. At least with a traditional Chinese restaurant it's probably a family business so they care more about their customers. There are a couple seedy holes in the wall around, but I've got 3-4 joints local that always maintain the highest health ratings, are spotless inside and out, and routinely win awards in my city/state for being among the best. Not everybody has that kind of options but it's enough for me to automatically exclude Panda.

I like that I can get a reasonable portion with the "bowl" sizing and save room for a side of spring rolls. Also, they have veggies as a side dish which taste pretty fresh.

I hate Panda express because the food isn't made to order. It's a big pile of fail sitting out under heat lamps. It's never fresh, unless you get lucky and they just made a batch of something right when you ordered.

I can't understand how they manage to fail at this. Even the shittiest of hole-in-the-wall places manages to cook the food when you order it.

Look, if you eat somewhere and you get sick because its not clean, dont go back. What I'm saying is one of those local chinese places has to be clean enough to order from. And you're deluding yourself if you think that Panda Express is selling anything less disgusting than local places.
Panda Express sells sugar, salt, and msg with some rice on the side.
If you eat somewhere local, even if its just an experiment to see if its good, there's a chance they're using better quality stuff than bags of "orange sauce" or whatever dumped over frozen chicken pieces.

At Panda I can watch them cook it right behind the counter. All those hole in the wall places do the prep behind closed doors. Almost all of them are sloppy greasy messes, and most I don't even eat at due to observing the lack of cleanliness.
I went to one place where I asked for a plate with the to-go food containers and the guy - no shit - took a styrofoam plate off of some random dirty shelf, spritzed it with the sink sprayer, then wiped it off with the stained rag he had tucked into his belt and handed it to me. I went back to the car and immediately threw all the food away.
